What your opinion on Reality shows

Hi deepa, I have been watching a music reality show in Asianet channel (Malayalam) from Monday to Friday. It is one hour long and on Saturday and Sunday the same channel telecasting another musical reality show for kids. I never miss the kids show because the participants are under the age of 15 and you can’t believe the talent of them and how they are working hard to perform well. Personally I like both of these shows and many are getting good opportunities even if they go out from the show. They are famous among the world and getting recognized by them. I think it is good; youngsters get chances to prove their talent.

There's only one show that gets me addicted to, and it's the American Idol. I follow this show every season, and I feel sad whenever each season comes to an end. In my country there is a very popular reality show - Pinoy Big Brother - it's a local version of the Big Brother. Sometimes I get to watch it because all the other people at home follow it, but I'm not so ga-ga over it like I am with American Idol. I like reality shows that showcase talents, specially singing, and IQ (like quiz shows). But the likes of Big Brother, or those into dating or survival or other gory challenges, I kind of feel they are staged and not so real and so they don't deserve to be called reality show.

I'm really not a huge fan of reality shows. Sometimes, I might catch a reality show if there's really nothing on television. However, I don't ordinarily watch them. I can understand some being addicted to some reality show or other, but I'm simply not one of them. It's not really my sort of thing.

I don't think it is really necessary. All are artificial and showy and publicity mongers will participate in that. I don't like watching them wasting my time

I hate these reality shows. They are artificial and I think they are even pre-planned as to the questions, answers, who will win all that. May be dance and music shows are true ones.

Reality shows for me are very entertaining shows. Common people act on the show as themselves. No pretentions and acting based on script. They act the natural way.
