Do you think that school photos are soo expensive.I have five children that attend school and they all have school photos taken.I do not buy them unless they have changed from the last time they had their photo taken,as i can not see the point. What about you.

I think EVERYTHING is too expensive! Ofcourse I can remember when gas was $1.25 and hamburgers were 35cents. So, I am at an age that everything is too much. Ten times what it used to be in alot of cases. I enjoyed saving my daughters school pictures and looking at the different each year. I have them in a photo walet and I look at them from time to time. Very odd to see how she grew from year to year and her hair changes.

Prices just go up and up on all things. It is pathetic. No end in sight.

I also look back at all my childrens old photos to see all their face changes over the years and it seems that every year they put the photos up a lot higher as well as you get alot less for the money you pay,i think with all the photos that are taken at a school we should get a bit of a discount.

My ex daughter in law called last month and was telling me how much the boys pics was. I about fell over when she told me the price. I can't afford to help her buy them and the school doesn't have a reasonable price for one at all. She was upset that she couldnt get them either. I told her to do take them somewhere and have their pictures made. I think the school needs to select a company that will have lower prices.
Have a nice day and keep smiling.

A lot of families are in that position now. I think it is sad, also, when we are having to talk about ex family members. I wonder if the school gets a kickback from these companies.

I agree with you. They are expensive. My Mother bought my school pictures every year while I was in school. That was unnecessary. The pictures are terrible. She couldn't stand the thoughts of not buying them and letting them go back. She had to have them. Now, we have packages of old school pictures.

My mum was the same as your mum.I still have those old school photos. There are alot of the photos that my children bring home from school and they do not look like they have changed much in their photos if at all from the year before,so i think it is a total waste of money to buy yhem yet again.

My sons school photo's are about £20 which I think is dear.We only have the one left at home so we just pay for them. One year they were awful, when I suggested we missed out on them that time.My son got really upset."Do you think I am ugly then" he said.So I had to buy them and have this awful photo hanging on my wall for a year before the next one came along.A few of my friends with several kids have them done together which saves them a fortune. So they have a nice group of her kids all sitting and standing together.

I think the price that we pay or we are asked to pay for the school photos is over priced as you would think that they could do them cheaper than that as alot of photos are getting bought in the school so there would be a discount of some sort.I have children in three different schools so i can sometimes pair a set of children up,but not all of the time which would like you say save alot of money.

My daughter's first grade pictures came back just a couple of weeks ago, and I'll agree, they were too expensive and I could not justify the price of them. Especially when I take into consideration that we've got Christmas pictures coming up and I will be buying those pictures to give to our family and friends. That is the reason that we decided not to buy the school pictures. I take a lot of pictures of the children myself and I also take them at Christmas to have professional pictures done, so the plain headshot pictures that they do for school seem like an unneccessary expense to me.

I could imagine how expensive that would be! Times 5!
I only have one for now, and when the proofs came this year it came with an envelope for the package choices. I couldn't believe how pricey it was. And to think that when he brings home these photos they would just sit on a shelf somewhere. Or they get inserted in a book where it would be found a few months or a few years later.
Still, there was a big change in my son's face from last year. So, I just picked the cheapest one.

The prices keep going up. Many of my friends do not buy them, but go when Wal Mart or Sears have photographers in. I think in your case I would go somewhere and have a yearly family photo made, get all of them at one time, every year.

I only have one child and I bought them every year. It was still hard for us to buy them every year even though it was only for one person because they are very expensive for what you get anyway. We had to do senior pictures for my daughter this year and they are definitely not cheap either.

They are expensive but they are sometimes a little less than other places. I had three kids and it was hard to get any more than just the basic package. Glad I dont have to do it anymore. Now I get grandkids pics given to me.

Back when I was in school it did seem that the pictures started to get higher in price, but I can only imagine the price it would cost for pictures for five children! I would find it being much easier to take one group family picture, and using a disposable camera for separate pictures of the children each year for school instead of using a professional service through school or otherwise!

Yes with five kids they are quite expensive. I had two kids and thought it was expensive back then. I still would get the pictures. Your kids don't change from year to year? The school should have package deals for families with alot of sisters and brothers in the same school.

School photos are expensive. I remember when I took my Senior Year pictures they were so expensive. I never understood why they are expensive. I never come out good in pictures. I can never relax and look natural. The photographer never makes sure that I am ready.

I struggle with this twice a school year. I have 3 children and for $60.00 for each child twice a year (once in the fall and once in the spring)is absolutely ridiculous. The "MAIN" purpose of the school photos, is that it is in fact a fundraiser. This is why they cost so much. I am all about supporting the school but is just too expensive. So we are going to have yearly photos taken on our own for a fraction of the cost.
