well i have 3 girls myself and i'm an aspiring chef. i make all my sauces from scratch. it gives me more control of what ingredients i like and prefer. i use 1 large can of crushed tomatoes, 1 can of tomato soup, 1 can of diced tomatoes, 1/4 cup of ketchup, 1 whole onion, fresh garlic or garlic powder but i use both but one or the other is fine, onion powder, about 2tbsp of sugar, italian seasoning, and oregeno. that's pretty much how i make my home made sauce. let that sauce simmer for about an hour and make sure you stir it. whatever meat you choose whether it be ground beef or turkey make sure you get the italian sausage to match. i don't eat pork so i use one pack of italian turkey sausage. let the sauce cook with the meat for another 30 minutes and they'll have a home made spagetti sauce. my children love it and so do my family and friends. choose a good brand of tomatoes also. good luck!!!

thank u for ur answer ,it's very helpful.
one more question, after cooking the meat and sauce, do i need to pour onto the pasta and cook for a while? or just serve it on the top of the pasta?

well you can do it either way after that. i usually season my pasta water with salt and garlic powder. once you strain the pasta after that it should have that garlic flavor. you have to salt the water heavy because pasta is one of those things that needs lots of salt in the water in order to flavor it. i started putting the garlic powder my pasta water about 2 years ago. just pour the sauce over the pasta. that way you can have better portion control because some people like more or less sauce. let them make that choice for themselves.

first of all, don't put too much pasta and not enough water. I use the big pot that came with a pot and pan set, pretty standard. 3/4 full. Seems to be enough water for any pasta I do.
Boil it. Salt it. Add a little oil to it. Keeps your pasta from sticking together.
Add pasta after the water boils, let it boil about 8 minutes. Taste one.
Drain immediately, otherwise it can continue to cook and stick.
My sauce: Saute one onion--cut in half then cut in strips--onion will fall apart in little strip pieces-- in olive or canola oil about 5 minutes. One medium can of tomato paste. (I think it's 12 oz. Not itty bitty. Not huge) Two cans water. In pan on stove, low heat. Stir till it's mixed and saucy. (Yes, do this with the oil from the onion and all) Add dry basil, oregano (or that "italian seasoning"), salt and 2-4 cloves garlic, crushed. (depends on the size of the cloves and how much you like garlic) Add either a spoonful of sugar or honey--circle the honey-bear over the pan once. Stir that and let it simmer.
if you want you can brown some ground beef and add that. Or make meatballs, my kids like that.
it also makes a good pizza sauce, for that I skip the onion though and maybe put in onion powder.

Don't ever overcook pasta. Like overcooked vegetables it is just a disgusting mush not fit for human consumption. I strongly suspect this is the main reason kids don't eat vegetables; their mothers are not cooking it correctly.
The sauces are incidental. If the sauces are good, then the pasta must be good in order for the entire dish to be good. Personally I prefer simple sauces, like olive oil and garlic, tomato and basil with a little salt and pepper and perhaps an onion or some bell peppers for variety ...

for tasty fresh pasta just cook it in a large saucepan with enough water and a little salt and 1 tablespoon of olive oil, always remember do not overcook the pasta, follow the cooking time instruction on the label, when it's tender but still firm to the bite, drain and toss with nice butter or olive oil and your prepared sauce, serve it as soon as possible..
