do you wear slippers or go barefoot in the house

I love my slippers, and would prefer them instead of shoes. My mom used to call me the barefoot girl when I was young, because I never wore shoes. If I had to, I always chose something very light to stick on. I would wear flip flops, or even mocassins, but never anything with a sole or heel on them. But when I got older I discovered how badly my feet were becoming from the abuse I gave them, and decided that I had to stop walking barefoot. So I adopted my slippers. In the winter, I slip on my pink fuzzy slippers that are like a boot, so my feet stay warm, and I wear them 24-7, and only take them off when I have to go out. But the minute I come home, the shoes come off, and the slippers return
In the summer, I take out my fluffy blue slippers that are made just like flip flops...with the thing between your toes. Of course I have to buy new ones every other year, because I eventually wear out the bottoms of them, or they get so stained that no washing will remove. Wearing shoes to me is like being forced to wear a bra...don't like that either...What do you hang around the house in?

Wearing slippers has always been a rule in my house. When i was a little boy, i got yelled at alot for not wearing my slippers. But I quickly grew to absolutely love slippers! Now i happily wear them all the time, no objections. I've got a few different pairs, and whenever i see a cool pair in the store, i can barely resist the urge to buy them! I've got homer slippers, sneaker slippers, moccasins, slip ons, a ton of blue dearfoams. I hate throwing them out, cuz if they don't fit anymore, i'll just wear them with socks on the extra cold days! After so many years of constant slipper wearing, i have a tough time walking barefoot!

haha, my parents made us wear slippers so she didn't have to use alot of heat in the winter. So we had to wear slippers constantly, and we all had to wear our warm fuzzy bathrobes at night and in the morning too. I guess anything to save money!
But yeah, my feet are like real sensitive now, and if i am barefoot, and i hit something it hurts like crazy!

Oh, I love my bathrobe too...when I was in my teen, my mom actually bought me those one piece pj's that babies wear...they actually sold them for adults. I loved that too...it kept me warm all over...except when you had to go to the bathroom, and you had to unzip the whole thing and pull it down. Made bathroom visits very chilly...lol

I am invisioning those homer slippers..lol! Yup, I remember my mom constantly telling me, to put my slippers on. I think it was because she was tired on scrubbing my feet at night, or soiling up the bathtub when I took a bath. Dirty feet usually make for rough marks on that darn tub..lol
It is tuff walking barefoot after you've gotten used of something on your feet all the time. We lose the tuffness on the bottom like the paws of a cat or dog..lol.

Hi Sweetchariot, can you believe I had a pair just like those pink ones of yours last winter but had to throw them out as they went so black. I got a new pair of mens slippers for this winter and they are actually warmer. I try to remember never to go barefoot in the house as I never know what I could stand on, I've already had 2 smallish centipedes inside in the last week and if you stand on one of those you need to go straight to the hospital.

Haa, well I'd recommend mens ones then sweetchariot, mine appear to be a strudy brown suede with a black rubber sole and are spotless after a month, not bad going.
As for things wandering in, this year the smelly green bugs turned brown much earlier in the year than usual, but it is only since you sent that link that I realised they were the same thing. The brown ones appear to be trying to sleep for the winter so at least they aren't planning on breeding. If I spot them then out they go but I might leave one to see if it returns to green again next spring.

Apparently, you don't have cellars or basements in your homes...that is one of the things that saves us in my state. In order to come in the house they have to climb stairs..lol. The only other way would be to fly in, and we would have to have windows or doors open for them to get in, which sometimes happen when we leave our screen doors open. But we even have screens on our windows, so we are able to leave our windows open in the summers without letting the bugs in. But it seems that we don't have pesky bugs like you do. Flies, ants, bees, hornets, and grasshoppers are the worst we see, and of course those darling crickets that make sounds during the night.
When I lived in California, they don't have basements or cellars, those that lived on the bottom floor were prone to getting cockroaches, because they would walk right in. EECH! Cockroaches are the worst bug around here, because they multiply very quickly, and your home can be invaded by this bug. They would have to even fumigate their homes once a year. They come out a night, and if your home has them, you can hear them squirm all over when you put the lights on. They are gross, and everyone is frightened to even see one.

That's right, I forgot about your darn bugs.... I don't think I would go barefoot either not knowing what I was going to step on.
I just bought a new pair of slippers last week...so they are still clean. But it won't be long when they will start looking like I dug them out of someone's trash.

because of all my foot problems, I have things inside my shoes that make it easier for me to walk...
I do have some slippers and the kind of flip flops that don't have the thing between the toes, but does have a little support in the sole of the shoe for getting around after I get undressed.
I NEVER go barefoot in my house, I might step in something really disgusting like a hair ball or cat barf or maybe even poo... I have a LOT of cats... And one is getting a bit senile and doesn't seem to remember that the cat litter is for her to use!

I think you must be my twin sister I never knew about because we were separated at birth! The first thing I do is put on my slippers, and, like you, I hate to wear a bra. I also hate to wear socks or stockings, even in the winter, so fleecy lined slippers fit the bill every time. We live in Spain, so I have towelling slippers for summer, which are much cooler. When it's really hot, I go barefoot on the marble floors and terracotta tiles, and that's wonderful!

...Well, I do wear socks inside my slippers until I am ready for bed. And sometimes when it's really cold, I leave my socks on..lol But I would be barefoot all the time if I could, but my feet are beginning to look like the paws of a cat or dog, ruff, dry, and scaley. They're not sexy looking feet anymore...lol
Bras? UGH! I have been wearing the sports bras for awhile now. Much more comfortable then those darn straps that you have to adjust all the time..lol

Hi Sweetchariot,
When at home i use slippers. We have 3 sets of slippers-- one for the dining area to the kitchen, one for the bathroom and the other one upstairs. In this way we will prevent any further spread of germs particularly that one coming from the bathroom.

WOW...you people must have the cleanest homes around. That means when you are walking around with one pair of slippers, you have to stop, take them off, and put on another pair before you enter one of those rooms? I'm not sure I would like to do that all day. lol

Yes, I would have to have alot of slippers, since I have 5 rooms. One for the kitchen, one for the living room, and bedrooms that have carpetings, and one for the entranceways into the home..lol...I would have to have 4 pairs probably..lol

Slippers in the home are very common for us...they keep us warm in the winters, and our feet clean in the summers.

Hi,
Well I stay barefoot in my house never ever I have any footwear to put on. And I guess our culture doesn't allow that too. here in my place we are even expected to leave our footwear outside the house when we are going to somebody else's place. Shoes or slippers are only meant for the roads.
Guess thats why I go barefoot too.

My home is mostly carpet, so i tend to walk barefooted. During the winter I bring out my pink fuzzy slippers too. I love shoes. I just have to air out my feet and let them rest. They need pampering too. Plus Im like you i hate wearing a bra, just not comfortable.

I like going barefoot around the house. And I don't like walking barefoot on dirty floors, so I also get to clean around more often. So walking barefoot makes my house look better haha But it's warm where I'm from, so the temperature doesn't affect my feet in a bad way. But a friend says it can cause some veins to appear on your skin's surface, I'm not sure about that though.

Well I never heard about the veins, but my mom used to tell me that If I got used of going barefoot, my feet would be wide and I would have trouble wearing shoes. I do have a wide foot so there is probably truth to that.

We really wear slipper to keep our feet warm in the winters. You have to wear something because the floors get pretty cold. And sometimes going barefoot does more damage to your feet.
Slippers are usually worn inside, not outside around here. Because slippers are usually part of the clothing you wear when you are settling down for the evening, and getting ready for bed.

Well, here in the states it gets very cold on your feet during the winter time; I would rather be warm then worry all the time about germs. We find here in the states that the more you worry about germs the sicker you'll think you are. Nobody has really gotten sick from the dirt on our slippers, and our floors are usually clean enough not to pick up alot of dirt.

In the Summer I prefer to be barefoot round the House as I just do not like Sleepers or anything like that
In the Winter I wear thick socks as I know I will only suffer with freezing cold Feet but I would prefer nothing at all on my Feet lol

I like slippers too. I don't wear them that much though. I wear them more in the winter time. I always have socks on when it is cold out. In the summer time I love being barefoot. I never wear slippers in the spring or summer. When I'm home and not going anywhere I always take my shoes off. Also being braless in my home is comfortable too. As long as no one is coming over.

I actually wish I could wear my slippers to bed, insteadof crawling into the cold sheets at night, but I think that would be a little too much..lol ...I agree with you about the summer, there is nothing better than walking around barefoot, but eventually, the bottoms of our feet get raw and ruff just like dogs or cats that walk around all day on their paws...lol ...so now I am getting used of the slippers in the summer or flipflops. And bras? I wish they burned them all in the 70's when they tried to then..lol

I wear slippers because I'm normally in socks but then again, even when I'm not wearing socks, I still wear slippers in the household because it's something that I've gotten used to. My Mom is different. She doesn't wear slippers at home. She goes barefoot. I, however, don't wear a bra at home.

I used to love walking around barefoot in the house. But when I moved in with my partner, I realised that marble / tiled / wooden floors and bare feet just do not mix, especially in winter!
So I dug out my battered old slippers, and now look upon them as something of a godsend... It's chilly here in the winter!
