What if you were all of a sudden handicapped?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. What if you were in some kind of an accident and would be in a wheelchair for the rest of your life or be horribly disfigured? How would you deal with that? Could you? I have 2 friends in a wheelchair that can do just about anything I can do, but they been like that since birth. I think it's different if you were always able to walk, se, talk or be pretty and all of a sudden that gets taken away from you. Me personally would have a hard time with that. I wouldn't kill myself or nothing like that but it would really mess me up I think. Do you think you could handle a major thing like that?

Hi Missybear, It will be hard on my part...it will take a long process to accept my condition. I need to be mobile and active for my two special sons.

Well, I would probably be having a poor me pity party until I adjusted to it..I a not a active person really unless I am playing with the kids..but I would miss it alot and also drive me crazy not being able to get up and do what I want when I want. especially if I had to rely on others for help so yeah BIG pity party it would be..

Hi missybear, God bless your 2 friends. Well i've been an athlete since i was 7 years old and i do not want to be handicapped. All my futures will be ruined and yes i am planning to further push this talent of mine in the future. I just hope i get to my goals. If it happens, then my life is screwed, i wouldn't kill myself because i would still have my family and friends so yeah.

I don't honestly know how i would handle being suddenly handicapped. It would certainly be a trial that would be hard to overcome. Life gives us so many turns of the road. I hope that if a handicapped situation ever occurred for me, I would find the strength to persevere and pass that encouragement on to someome else.

That's very thoughtful and I hope it won't happen to you or anyone for that matter
