Do you ever get stuck choosing a best response?

Sometimes when I make a discussion which gets a lot of replies, I find it really difficult to chose a best response. Especially when several people have given very detailed and informative responses. Do you ever find it difficult to chose one? I read somewhere that keeping on top of our discussions and marking responses can all effect our earnings. So do I just pick one at random?

Usually I try to pick up a best response, if more people have said similar things and they are all good, I usually choose the first of them that posted the answer. I think I can give a 'timing' bonus. Lol

What if people answer in completely different ways, but they are all just as good? Thanks for the reply. I will check and see if I could give a timing bonus

Yes! It seems that some people only chose the first response. I kind of think that is a cop out. I would like to see someone really think about the responses and put as much effort as the writer put into the response.

Yes, I do especiall when I have more that one good answer. I ish we could give more than one best answer, but since we can't, I will take time making sure I pick just the right onw. I will read and reread posts, because it is is easy to miss something in each posts, so by going over them, I will see something that I missed before and then I can pick the best responses. I do wait awhile to give best reaponse as mylot says we are to wait at least a week before we give them, but I have a tendnecy to wait a lot longer, as it give anyone an oportunity to respond that want to. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Thanks, I didn't really think to wait that long. I just assumed if no one had responded in a couple of days then the discussion was over with and I should give a best response. Actually now I can wait and take as much time over it as needed.

Well, I have never been stuck when choosing a best response. I hardly ever award one, so when I do I will give it to the person who really made the response unique and put a lot of work into it. When I see that one person has gone up and beyond and made an exceptional response that sticks out from the rest then I will award the response.
If they all seem the same, I will not reward one even if they are great. If they all impress me equally then it wouldn't be fair to just give the best response to one person, would it?

Your earnings are not affected if you choose not to give a best response. . . I am sure that it is only an optional thing, where did you hear that this would affect earnings?

Thats how I feel. But I am hoping my earnings won't be effected if I don't.

I think someone mentioned on a discussion that they noticed an increase in their earnings when they went back to their discussions and marked best responses. I can't remember which discussion or who said it.

Hi Skye blue.
Yes it's so difficult to chose a best response. But I am sure, that people wouldn't be angry if you chose the answer to another user and not their... Everybody knows that choosing best responses is not easy and no one will be mad on you. :)) It's difficult and needs time to chose the best response and I think that nobody will tell : ' Why her/him response? Why not my?'

Thanks, I hope no one would get mad at me. I like to think I give them to the best response, but sometimes many are best responses so the decision is really hard. Happy Mylotting

I still have a lot of discussions unresolved. But I think I'm gonna give the first person to respond as the best response eventhough its a little unfair, thats the only thing we could do. Thanks for creating the discussion it helped me too. :)

Awarding the BR to the first person who responded just because they were first is NOT the way to go about it at all

I think reading through and ticking maybe the first response you see as a best response is ok, as long as you have read them all.

Glad I helped you too. I think this place is great as whenever I get stuck I can just ask and someone will normally have the answer. Or at least help me decide the best thing to do. Happy Mylotting

Sometimes I do, but I go back and I reread everything and usually when there are several that I like, something strikes me about one of them that I like a little bit better than the other.

I think most friends here may have met such a ssituation before. Sometimes, it is really a difficult task for us to choose a best response because there are many wonderful answers.
Everytime, when my discussion has gotten many responses, then I will face the difficulty to choose a best response, expecially there are several high-quality responses. You see, if I choose one of them as the best one, then it is unfair to others. So, at last, my decision is not to choose any responses as the best response. Although I know it is a little weird, I have no choice but do like that.
Happy myLotting!
