Do You Celebrate Your Birthday On The Day Itself?

I find it funny when some or most of the people celebrate their birthday on another day than theirs due to certain reasons like work or something. As for me, if the day won't fall on a weekend or holiday then I wouldn't bother to celebrate or throw a party otherwise I just treat my friends and families on the day itself like dinner or something. I find it making a fool out of myself celebrating my birthday on a different day. Because I practically know that that day belongs to someone else whose celebrating his or her birthday. Well, that's my opinion though.

Nope I don't bother celebrating at all. But my family/friends usually turn up uninvited on my birthday anyway as they always have the idea I want to celebrate getting another year older!
My birthday today actually, my sister is on holiday so I did miss seeing her today. My Auntie seems to have forgotten my birthday for the first time ever and its been a little flat.
I have had a few friends round and my Mum and Dad. So all is good. But other than having people around I don't celebrate.

I find it sad to be celebrating your birthday on another day. I remember some years back, I was usually upset because we couldn't celebrate on the day itself because we all had school or work to attend to. Inasmuch as it makes me sad, everybody I want to celebrate it with was busy. Good thing my birthday this year will land on a weekend, and if I'm still busy with my internship, I am going to make darn sure my day is my day, and no other else.

Hey...
Nothing wrong in your opinion...If you r busy enough not to celebrate ur birthday on the day itself...,then its ok to celebrate or treat friends other day..But all can celebrate with family on that day rite..Family comes first...!!
I used to celebrate my birthday with my family...If I'm not very much busy...then I'll party with my friends..

Ii usually celebrate my birthday on the day when I was born if I will celebrate birthday. Sometimes I won't celebrate my birthday I just have a little normal food. It is just a normal day ,I think.

My husband and I always celebrate our birthdays together on the day, but our families are not always available because of their work schedules. However, this year my birthday (January 30th) falls on a Saturday, so everyone will have the day off. We are all going to get together at my mother's place for a party.

I understand what you mean but I don't think it would effect someone else's birthday if you celebrated on a different day. There's a lot of people who have the same birthday they wouldn't even notice the difference. But I do like to celebrate my birthday on the actually day as well as on the weekend that follows depending on what day my birthday fell on. Not everyone would have the chance to celebrate with me and I can't stop my friends from throwing a party for me on the weekend that everyone would be available.

I don't celebrate my birthday on the day itself. That's because I think that it is just sweet if any of my love ones could just wish me and that's it. I don't wish for more, and all those cake-cutting ceremony; I don't really need it. Just their happy thoughts and prayers for me to be safe, happy and prosperous all the time will do.

Growing up we would celebrate birthdays on the Friday following or the Friday before. It was when the family could get together. Also we would celebrate several birthdays especially for March when a lot of birthdays were in that month. I celebrated my birthday by myself for awhile though I believe my uncle's birthday is the month of mine... No I started celebrating my birthday with my uncle's wife. Then we stopped celebrating birthdays at all.
Here my husband's parents let us decide what we want to do each year. Usually it's going out to eat and then a movie... I prefer to rent movies!

In my family we try to celebrate on the day. Only if we are planning to invite friends and family will we hold the celebration on the nearest weekend. This was only really the case when I was younger. Now we do something on the day, like go out to eat somewhere nice, or make a special dinner at home, with a cake. I know I am 36 but I have to have a cake on my birthday.

It is so funny when people celebrate their birthday on another day... it s the important day in each and everyone life.. So the celebrations should only be on that day... celebration on another day is not an enjoyment i think so.. so friends try to enjoy the day you were born..

Yes it is weird to celebrate your birthday on another day. I myself don't do that. I always celebrate my birthday on my real day. It does not matter if it falls on a weekday or on a weekend. If it falls on a weekend, the better. I could throw a big party for all my loved ones. But if it falls on a weekday, then I usually just have a nice dinner with my family and friends in a restaurant that serves delicious food. Either way, I am happy because I am with the people who matter the most to me.

Hi m chavez: i think your opinion has a lot of sense but at the same time i understand that if i celebrate my birthday on its day it's possible that some people won't go and have a dinner with me because of their jobs so it's better to celebrate both in your day and then on saturday or sunday with all your family so you'll have two celebration days. That's actually what i love to do. Thanks for sharing with us your point of view about birthdays. Have a nice day.
