Deadbeat Mylotter?

United States
November 15, 2009 12:58pm CST
Last night I logged into Mylot. I had a ton of responses to my discussions. (Thank you!) I wanted so bad to respond to them all, however, I was so tired by that time that I just read them and went to sleep. I also wanted to write something new, but was afraid it would make no sense or be tough to write because I was so sleepy. What is your opinion on this. Am I a bad mylotter? Is it morally wrong to log in and not type anything? For the record, I did just finish going back and responding to each and everyone. Also posted some new. I just "could have" done this 12 hours ago and was wondering your thoughts. Thank you all and happy MyLotting! :-)

No I don't think that makes you a bad myLotter. I do this sometimes too, I log on to check what's happening here, if there are new and interesting posts, and if I got new responses to my discussion. But there are times when I just don't have the urge to post anything, so I just leave the site without doing anything. Then after a while my energy is back and then I start posting again.

Hi Dory. Yes, that's what happened. I had new responses and there were interesting posts. I definately wasn't going to post any new discussions. My brain was slowly falling asleep. It would have taken me forever to respond to all my comments so I went to sleep. I responded to everyone this afternoon and I feel good about my decision to wait. Thanks for your support! :-)

Yes, I read alot of stuff that night. Then, I wanted to respond and I was so tired. My mind could not really put sentences together, much less organize thoughts to comment. Reading was fine, but, sleep was on it's heels. I'm glad I went to bed and I would encourage anyone else to do the same. Reading posts while sleepy is fine, but, I would not recommend posting if your too tired. It will still be there in the morning, or the next evening, or next year for that matter. :-)

There is nothing wrong with not typing anything when you log in most especially when you are tired. Better not type than type crap

Thanks Lindy! I feel the same way. And when I get tired like that, I won't type crap. I will sit there trying to come up with the right words as my brain is trying to go night-night. I don't like posting one word comments and I would've wound up doing just that. I feel good about what I did. I wound up getting all the comments in today anyways.

I don't think your a bad mylotter if you feel that your a bad mylotter because you didn't response to the ones who responsed to your discussion. In that case I must be a super bad mylotter because I can't response to every responses to anything I post. Its not like I don't appreciate the responses its just that I can't response to every last one.

LOL. Thanks for your support. I guess I am not a bad mylotter after all. I really do try to respond to all responses I get, but only because I enjoy the interaction so much. I enjoying getting into discussions with folks and asking questions and such. I don't take it personally when someone doesn't respond to my comment so why should it matter if I do or don't. I'm still kinda new to this site so I'm trying my best to be good at it and figure out how to do it with the most profit as well. :-)

I know what you mean. I feel like that too; there was this one time where I just spent my time reading discussions, answers and comments and did not post anything at all. I was too tired to type, and I was just happy just surfing through. The next day, I was re-charged back and everything went back to normal..

That's right, my friend. We definitely learn a lot in the process too, actually. It's more like being a part of a big family.

Hi Zed. I'm glad I'm not alone. If you think about it, it's a positive thing that you are just as happy surfing mylot, reading and not posting anything at all. To me, that tells of quality posts on interesting topics. Otherwise, you wouldn't surf here, you'd surf some other site. Happy Mylotting to you! :-)

I don't think you're a deadbeat, ringbearer, and actually in the FAQs mylot recommends that you don't respond to each and every response your discussion gets. It's nice when the OP comments on a response that I've posted but I don't feel slighted if (s)he doesn't. We're all here to earn some money and if you receive 19 responses to a discussion, you're going to spend some time commenting under all of them.

So do you mean it is good to respond or not or personal preferance? As far as making money goes, I would assume it pays to respond as much as possible and I always try and make my responses of substance. Why do they recommend not responding to every response you get?

You're not a bad mylotter. No one can respond to everyone here all the time. We just narrow it down to the stuff we like to reply back to sometimes. I think we're all guilty of doing that sometimes. So, nope, I dont think you're a bad mylotter.

Thank you both. I try to make my posts worth the readers time, somewhat at least. On top of that, I am still relatively new to Mylot and I don't know if discussions get "old" or not. If they do get "old" I don't know how long that takes. Thanks for being supportive though, I feel I did the right thing. Sleep is important! :-)

I dont think discussions get "old" because as long as they're still up here, people can still respond. I know I have responded to stuff that's a year old or more. No worries about not responding to all people here. It won't affect your earnings and I don't think everyone will take it personally. Cheers and welcome to mylot.
