I see that facebook is getting more and more members and I wonder why it is so popular. beside the game the features are similar to myspace or friendster. So what make facebook stand out. Why do you visit facebook.

I visit the facebook because of the Mafia wars and it was fun reading comments of your friends in your status updates.

I have noticed that it seems a Lot of people that are older prefer fb because its simpler since u don't have 2 make a layout etc & they got the better apps than myspace. I like myspace better but all my friends are on fb & I like their apps so I use it more

well i have noticed a lot of people get on there so they can keep in touch with family so i think thats how some of the older people get on there because its an easy way to keep in touch with everyone because i never knew them to ever get on the internet but then see their profiles and they have 20 family members and im thinking maybe thats why

moonlitmagikchild I guess it would easier for the older folks and it seem to be working. I alot of older folks are getting online because of that. They first target the new generation, now they have a whole load of the older generation in the band wagon too.

I visit facebook and have many friends there, because it is a good way to network for my business, both on-line and off-line. In Facebook, there are many things you can do even if it is not for business. My ordinary friends are there, as are some of my family members. It's a shame that unlike myLot, we don't get paid for using it though! - Derek

Yes derek, I guess with the estimate of 300 million of active users, it would be a great place to network and build business contact. It is also a good way to stay in contact with your friends.

As stated, because of the many applications or games that you can access easily. It loads fast too compared on the other networking sites which takes a long time to load up. When I signed up at facebook, friendster tends to get boring. Almost all my friends switched to facebook :)

I think it is a major factor if you have all your friend in that place, like over here at mylot. I start to make many friends that is why I keep coming back. that few dollars each day would not make me a loyal fan.

The strange thing is that these games are also available on myspace too, I believe if you have some bandwidth, you could also set for your website. I just wonder if it is worthwhile.

why facebook so popular now adays its because its NEW and it has built-in features such as GAMES.What make it more popular is because of Farmtown and FarmVille that they can plant virtually without sweat hehhehhe. in my own opinion why facebook so popular is because of the GAMES on it that other social networking site dont have.

I have been in FB for a few years now but never quite got into it for some reasons. I have a decent friends list, some applications and a cool page still never quite made it there. I feel, the recent popularity of FB is due to the games applications which people are just addicted to. Mafia war game or the farm house and many others have successfully made people glued to FB. I personally hate the invitations which I think too much of spamming. But then, it's my view point.

Yes all these applications is making people play the games, like my mother and some of my relative who otherwise would not touch the computer. guess they got something going for them isn't it. too bad for myspace which did actually roll out the application first but somehow people got stuck with facebook.

Hello iwrite. I was more into Friendster before, but I found out that Facebook is better. I even cancelled my Friendster account already because there's no more activities that I could do there anymore and I feel that it's more for teens than my age. Facebook is more popular than myspace and friendster, though it looks simplier than the two. I think what makes it more popular is that it has a chat feature and addictive games and applications. It also has Causes application that could convince people to join. Posting is easier and it's user friendly. I do visit my Facebook account everytime I go online. Happy mylotting!

Well djoyce71, you bring up a point that I never consider, perhaps it is because it is simple that is why it is so popular, you do not have the complicated stuff so the very young and the not so techie would still appreciate.

Definitly it's because friends LOL! while others is like playing the game from facebook, but i think the most biggest reasonable is friends invitations or influenced by people surround us, is facebook member That's why

Yes maxilimian, I think it is the friends that make you join the site, however there are some of the other things that keep you going back. I guess that is something they have done right that others have miss the target.

Why do things get popular? Hmm..It's a hard question to address. The fads change so quickly, sometimes it's hard to keep up. I generally follow my friends around. At first the big thing was MySpace, but now the popularity has pretty much moved onto Facebook. And so that's why I joined, was because nobody actually ever went ON their myspace's anymore and I felt out of the loop. So I made a profile basically because everyone else did, as sad as that sounds. . Other than that? It's a more.. "adult" social networking site.. Whereas I think MySpace is geared more toward teens & pre-teens. *shrugs*. I can't really say what makes it unique, it has a different setup than most social networking sites, but pretty much the same features. I think it's a fad, and I'm sure a new site will pop up pretty soon here and then THAT one would be the "in" site.

Facebook is popular because the celebrities are into it. You can find there the legitimate account of your favorite celebs. That's why ordinary people trust that site same thing in twitter. People can follow and be friend with their idols and also with their friends. It is also a good place to socialize and meet other people.

The first social networking site I found was Myspace, but after I found Facebook, I almost never use Myspace anymore. I prefer Facebook, because it loads faster. I'm sure some of my problem is that I still have dial-up, but, even on dial-up, Facebook loads twice as fast as Myspace. Facebook is also connected to Squidoo.com, which is a site I use all the time. For my time, Facebook is much easier to use.

well Dkprincess6 this could be another major factor behind the success of facebook, that it loads fast, I guess we are all tire of waiting too long. in this fast pace world time is almost everything. So people do not like to site around all day waiting for something to happened.

in my humble opinion facebook become more popular because it's a very rich web applications. People can do lot of thing with facebook. Reconnect with old friends or neighbor, looking for a new friend, new netwrok, looking for fun using games etc.

I don't myself, and I don't understand the appeal. I think there are quite a few other sites that have more to offer, and I think there is some risk involved with using programs such as FaceBook. Obviously, however, many people disagree.

Hi, I, I can't imagine what the allure is. I find it to be outright annoying. I go to my page occasionally to visit with my kids when I have trouble with phone tag, since we're all so busy. Other than that, It's a pain!

But it is the page with the most number of users at the moment, in fact it has almost 200 million active users. over at mylot it is only 190000 plus. so it makes you wonder why they became so big.

I do have an account with Facebook but I only go there when I get a message. I don't like Facebook at all. There is just to much going on with it and its just not user friendly as far as I'm concerned. I think its a big waste of time. The only good quality it has to me is that you can find people that you haven't heard or seen in ages.

I think the popularity of facebook is because of all the applications and the real time connection it brings to people. By real time connection, I mean being able to comment immediately to something your friend has posted because it feels like you are already talking to that person about a shared interest. I always visit my facebook to know what my friends are up to and sometimes I do want to know what they think about my thoughts and the things I do and of course I do play a lot of games there also and most of them are pretty addicting. lol.

Yes people are sending me invites to the all this applications. And my little two year old girl, like this happy aquarium and insist I buy 2 fishes every day. In order to make her happy, I would need to keep trying to get money to this account.

hello iwrite, i have a cousin who has been a facebook member for years and he told it wasn't really meant for others besides those who are in college are who graduates in college, probably meant more for the alumni people in the US. but now, it has expanded and became more popular in the sense that even in friendster they're are people who kept adding each other now in face book.
