Do you still go to work, if your area was hit by flood?

My friend had asked me this question last night when she called me up. She told me that she had to absent from her work for 2 days due to her area being flooded since from Sunday. Most of the time, her area is prone to flooding because it's nearby the river bank area. Luckily, her boss is a considerate person, so he allowed her to take those 2 days off as her annual leaves. Next year, she planned to move to city area, where it's not a flood prone area anymore. Anyone experience this problem during this raining season?

Yes, if you are not feeling well during that time, it's better to take a good rest. Anyway, do take good care about your health during this raining season time. Because it's very easy to fall sick, during year-end season, but don't forget to go to work if not serious flood in your area. So, happy mylotting to you...

Hello myfb. I think that it depends on how serious the flood is. I will have to make up my mind based on the need of my school. If it is not that serious, I will certainly go to work if all the others do the same.

Hi,
If the transportation is in good condition, i will definately prefer to go office. It depend on the situation, if is too much floody and chance of decrease in flood is low then noboby will go to thier work.

Yes, sometimes it's our responsibility to makes the work in our office goes smooth. That's what happened to me before, when i was still working in office. I hardly able to take leave because i am the only person to handle the admin side of my workplace.

Well, to be honest, I haven't had much experiences of floods as Bangkok is a big city and I usually take the sky bus. But if it really happened to me I'd probably call in and call a sick leave or something. It isn't wise to risk your life just to go to work for one day so just stay out of it. If there fire you, just leave ! Don't care about stupid companies that won't listen to their employees/ or look at their employee's perspective.

Well...if the roads are free I guess I would og to work, I wouldn't have an excuse. But if the roads weren't free and I'd have a problem just getting out with my car, I'd phone my boss and tell him, I don't think he'd have a problem with it.

Yes, if the flood is not serious, then we can still go to work like usual. In my friend's case the flood is nearly 2 metres height, so she unable to go to work. Because now her area is high tide, so she needs to wait until it's back to normal to resume her work.
