I need to buy a desktop that I can use for making my reports and presentations. I am a teacher and I surf the internet a lot. I don't have any idea what and how am I going to buy them. I know there are lots in Gilmore but I don't know what specs do I need and what are the parts that I should buy. People have told me it's better to buy piece-by-piece rather than all-set-up. Can someone please help me?

Yes, you can just buy the parts and assemble it yourself, there's alot of advantage when you do this. First, you can customize, you can just choose the parts you want, maybe you have a particular brand in mind or you want the cheapest, second, you are assure that all your parts will be brand new, not those returned items, (there are some shop who do this) third, if something went wrong with your computer, you don't to carry the whole unit to the computer shop where you bought it, you can just take out the defective parts then bring it to the shop for replacement. Since you're just going to use it on the inetrnet, you don't need to buy those high end parts and peripherals.

Even I am thinking of exchanging the desktop and buying a laptop. I want to retain my pc by only exchanging the monitor and buy another laptop. So I will follow this discussion to know details about them. Thanks for starting this discussion. Welcome to Mylot. You are a new member and I wish you will post more discussions and responses from your new desktop.

I just bought my new desktop last year and i bought it in a package because the store offers free softwares already embedded on the package and i know that software nowadays are expensive. if i were you, you better buy it by package and ask for a brochure and specs for the package, just make sure that the memory has higher capacity.

Yes,your friend are right. Select the right parts to suit your need are better than you take an all build in's spec. But for you as a teacher. i will recommend you to buy from all build in spec as dell, hp or other brands. Because, the warranty & after sale services are better than custom one.

In your situation, it's better to buy a package desktop. Check out the prices in their site. pcgilmore.com.ph If you're going to buy piece-by-piece, let some computer technician join with you. pcHub and PCgilmore are most trusted for me.

I am looking for a buyer of my laptop. What you need, I think, is a laptop, since you're always on the go. It is a Compaq Presario CQ40. Have 250GB of harddisk capacity, 3GB of memory, 3 usb plug-ins, wi-fi ready, Vista starter OS. If you are interested you can contact me. I bought it at thirty thousand pesos. I am selling it for 25k (negotiable).
