I think it depends on what kind of games your son loves to playing with his new computer. But if he is just 8 years old, i think he must be playing with offline games on that computer, unless you've introducing some online games for him. I think kaspersky internet security is good if he playing with online games, and kaspersky anti virus is good if he plays only with offline games. However kaspersky is the best anti virus i ever use so far. I never dissapointed with its features and performance. I think you should be the operator of the antivirus software on your son's computer because however he still have no ability to recognizing whether a file or offer is a danger or not. And slowly but sure, you can teach him. So just considering as learning by doing for him. Good luck for you and have a nice day. Happy mylotting.

I have been using NOD32 for about 3 years and it has worked like a champ! Also may want to get Xsoft anti-spyware.

I use AVG which is free and is quite sufficient for normal list of viruses. The other options for you are Norton anti-virus and even the windows Defender. Norton is a paid anti-virus software and you need to subscribe to it. Cheers! Ram

Introduce him to some legitimate games. There's plenty of online websites that have games which don't need to be downloaded. If he's only eight, you shouldn't be letting him roam freely on the internet anyway. Go to Target and splurge thirty bucks on a game of his choice, it'll be much cheaper than when you have to buy anti-virus software. (Because free ones will never get the job done.)
