What's everyone doing for Children in Need this year. Anything? Nothing? I've put money in collection pots and given money to my daughter to take to school for mufti day. not doing anything wacky though. do you watch it on tv? i used to but think its a bit boring now. we've been watching celebrity scissorhands though. finding it funny. especially steve strange making his clients cry by his cringe worthy hairdressing skills. anyone else watching it?

Since June I have been tutoring homeless youngsters at the School on Wheels in downtown Los Angeles. I really enjoy doing this and it has helped me impact the lives of youngsters. During the Holiday season, I usually pick an ornament from the Angel tree and fill the request. I also enjoy volunteering at the holiday parties for underprivledged children. I prefer this as opposed to just dropping something off. I like to see the joy on their faces when they open their gifts. That, to me, is the true reward.

Children in Need is a UK org, I take it? Celebrity Scissorhands... sounds unusual, what is it? I donate to a number of charities here in the US, some of them specifically for children. There are also charities to provide coats to homeless children, food banks, Toys for Tots (sponsored by US Marines), etc.

children in need is a charity event held in the UK to raise money for children. it is an annual event which most people support and do fund raising for. Celebrity Scissorhands was a reality show where 10 celebrities where given two weeks to learn to cut hair and do beauty treatments for other people/celebs with all the profits going to children in need. was very amusing, lots of the hair cuts were absolutely awful. well done for supporting your charities. every bit helps doesnt it. thanks for posting :)

We will be picking one or two names off the "Tree of Joy". For each child we will do up a full Christmas list, based on what they have said they want from Santa. My finace used to make bady doll rockers and fill them with dolls and other toys, then donate them to one of the local charities. Every child deserves a nice Christmas.

Thats cool. Well done to your Dad. My parents always supported charities too so I guess these things must run in the family. Thanks for your comment twinkleD xxx

We will buy a toy and donate, we do that every year. Now that the kids are old enough to understand, it makes it even better.

Thanks for your comment. Its great to support the less fortunate children at this time of year. We have a School Christmas fair coming up soon and proceeds are going to Children in Need too. I will also be donating toys to that too. My daughter is only 5 and already understands that we need to help others and she loves doing it too. Thanks for your comment twinkleD xxx

I've always wanted to help children out when they are in need. I know a family that is going through some hardships at the moment, so I bought their little 18 mos. old daughter a brand new winter coat so that she can stay warm. There's nothing worse then a child that doesn't have warm clothes. (and food in their belly)
