We hear all the time about a dog nursing other animals, but generally they are bigger dogs. Well, here's a sweet little girl with some cute babies... http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/christchurch/3080895/Shylas-a-purr-fect-little-mum I'll have to tell about my brother's ex's dog sometime...

isn't that true, there are some serious lessons animals could teach us about taking care of young

I thought so too, and she's a cute little dog - I told the roomie we needed her for those bottle babies 2 years ago (her dog did help out some.)

Our dog Patsy was like that - she loved kittens. Whenever our cat would go outside to potty or whatever, she'd get in the box with the kittens to babysit. She kept them from escaping until their mama came back. She was the same kind of dog as in the story - a fox terrier/chihuahua mix.

Zoe, our mixed breed part pointer/terrier has helped us with our kittens, including taking care of some of the work with the bottle babies 2 years ago

Okay...AAAAAAaaaaaawwwwwww....! I wonder if these pupp--er, kittens will grow up to like dogs? As much or more than cats? And will they be bi-lingual, speaking both cat & dog fluently? Or will someone need to hire a remedial cat tutor? And will they choose to be cat lovers as adults, or...just grow up confused? Will getting a bath from a fellow kitty be odd to them, being used to a smooth tongue? Will they... Oh, shut up, Maggiepie. This is just pure & simple call-the-cute-police cute! Maggiepie WHERE ARE any OF OBAMA'S RECORDS?!?

Yup, that's definitely an Awwwwwwwww moment. I guess some critters (humans included) just love being moms. I wouldn't know.

I enjoyed being foster mom to Oliver, but there was only one of him, the 4 kittens, that was a lot more work and those are my only mothering jobs, so I'm not sure I'd want to be one for years...

How beautiful! Isn’t she the best mother dog! I have to say it Awwwww! I wonder if the kittens will be trained as dogs or as kittens. I have read that it is the mother cat that teaches the kittens how and where to go to the toilet so I wonder what the mama dog will teach them the same thing, probably not…It is the sweetest thing I have seen in a long time!

I'm sure the humans will step in, we trained the foursome a couple of years ago, and mostly had to train Cat's kittens, because she'd pull them out of sleeping in the litter, but wasn't too good at teaching them when to go in the litter...
