Do you decorate your house outside with lights and if you do when do you decorate. My son-in-law has spent today decorating outside and we will put the lights on, on Friday the day after Thanksgiving Day.

Hi Lelin, of course not, have you any idea what electricity costs out here? Actually christmas isn't done out here but a couple of foreigners brought the tradition over with them and a few houses had a few lights a few years back. They didn't do it a second time though, I would think all the power cuts and rain on them blew their fuses.

Greece has become the most expensive country in Europe for things like that. Some costs now such as medicines are just ludicrous with things like vitamins costing around six times more than the identical item in the UK. There's certainly going to be a lot of cold households this winter as heating becomes a luxury item.

I wouldn't be having lights outside myself but I share the bill so its not to bad. I did't know the cost of electricity in Greece was alot. I thought the states were the most expensive when it came to utilities.

Hello lelin, we do put lights up for Christmas infact we went ahead a few weekends ago and got them put up while the weather was still nice, we usually don't get the chance to get the lights up with it being so nice because it is ually snowing and cold right around Halloweenbut here it is three days before Thanksgiving and we have been fortunate enough now to have any snow yet and it hasn't been too cold. We are also the same as you and we put up the decorations and light all the lights the weekend after Thanksgiving.

I thought my son-in-law was crazy that he started early you have him beat by a mile. He likes putting them up when its cold outside because he says it doesn't feel like Christmas. I think he is crazy because I would also rather put them up when its warm and nice out like you guys did.

Hi Lelin, If I had a house then I would decorate the outside with lights for Christmas. I live in an apartment so I can not. It looks so beautiful when the houses are all lit up. Are you going to post a pic when the lights are on?

Let me tell you if I was living alone I wouldn't be decorating outside with lights either. I feel why give the electricity company anymore money then they get from me too. However my son-in-law, daughter and granddaughter live with me and they are big abaout Christmas.

I do decorate the outside of the house with white icicle lights. This year I have also got some white/blue small round bulb lights that I will also put up with them. I will hang them from the guttering so that they go across the front of the house. I like when there is a gentle breeze and the icicles sway as it make them look really good and more noticable. I always wish that the full row of houses would put the same lights up, as then it would look really magical. I will put them up on or after December 1st. I think it's a bit silly when people put them up in November as, rather obviously, it is not Christmas.

Well we have the lights and decorations up but they won't be turned on till after Thanksgiving. My son-in-law only had a certain amount of time because he works so much. It would be nice if everyone had the same lights in your neighborhood it would look alot more magical. I heard from our Phillipinos mylotters that they start to decorate in September so November is not bad at all.

I know I'm with you after a month I get tired of it all and I'm ready for everything to come down.

Wow, September! By the time November comes around I would be fed up of the decorations and ready to take them down. I will admit I hate the week after I have taken all the decorations down, both inside and outside the house, as it looks really empty and boring. But I'm definatley not someone who will keep them up all year round.

Hi Lelin, In my country we start Christmas rather early, some put up their Christmas decors as early as September. I started putting mine after the Halloween, I already have a Christmas tree inside my house,in the living room. I'm planning to hang a Christmas star (we call it parol) outside the house. I used have put tiny lights Christmas lights at the gate but those were damaged by the typhoon that recently came to my country, so this holiday season I'll just make do with the big star. I like putting Christmas decors around the house as it sets the festive mood which lasts for at least 2 months - until the New Year.

Well that is good enough lights around the windows. That is what I would do if I lived in a flat. Thank you for responding.

We live in a rural area and would be the only ones to enjoy the lights if we were out after dark so we skip this decoration but do try to get into town to enjoy what others have done.

I don't usually decorate outside but I do a lot of decorating inside. I have a picture window in my livingroom and I tend to really dress it up. I put my decorations up either on the Thanksgiving weekend or the first week in December.

No, I don't decorate outside. I usually put my tree up around the first of December. I guess I just feel like it's still a little too early right now. I remember when we decorated a tree outside not long after we first moved out here. I was just a small child at the time. I noticed on my home from Messiah practice tonight that some people down the road from me had already put their decorations up outside.

If I was living by myself I would probably only put up a manger and not even a tree. However, with my daughter and her family especially my granddaughter we will put a tree up probaby this weekend after Thanksgiving. Thank you for responding.

Yes that would be enough for me too but my son-in-law is a big kid at heart and loves Christmas. There are lights all over the front of my house and the yard. However, it does look good. Thanks for responding.
