If our pets could cook

When you celebrate a holiday, do you share the festivities with your pets? Many of us share little gifts, but do your pets get a special dinner too? What do you think would happen if our pets could plan and prepare a holiday meal. What would they cook? Do you think they would share with you, or do you think they would plunk a bowl of kibble on the table for you and save the good stuff for themselves? My dog Tukay is always anxious to eat, so she probably doesn't have the patience to cook. We'd probably have pizza for every holiday...

hi catdla^^;;
i remember the Ratatouille movie where a mouse is very talented and has always the passion to cook. i think i'd be very lucky if have him as my pet LoL
if pets can really cook then, it would be a big disaster since they will not be as careful as human i guess. everything to them is ok as long as there is a smell of their favorite food like meat. they would just cook anything on fire without even cleaning or washing it

Hi Lucky09! i love your jumping panda avatar! It's really adorable! Ratatouille is one of my favorite movies! I just watched it a couple of days ago, which is where I got the idea for this discussion. We are also getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving here, which entails a lot of cooking and preparation. Those mice from that movie can visit my anytime to help...oh heck, they can do ALL the cooking. If I see them marching down the street on their way here, I'll quickly wash all the food, just in case!

Your right Lucky, we need to teach something to wash at least the pots and pans. That's the worst part of cooking...the cleanup. Cooking itself is fun because we are motivated by thinking about the delicious food at the end of our labors. Or the end of the mice labors anyway. I think we need something with bristly fur to get off anything that's cooked on. LOL...then it would be perfect, wouldn't it?

oh thanks cat, everyone likes my panda here
hahaha, so you would take those mice and let them all do the cooking?
what a great help they would be, i just wonder those recipes they have it in the movie...
i may as well teach them to do the dishwashing with those big pans and casseroles for big occasion. i hate them know LoL

Haha, I couldn't imagine our dogs and cats with Toques on and messing up the kitchen!
If my cats could cook, I bet they'd major on seafoods. But our dogs would probably just dig out their buried bones and give them as hors d' oeuvres (Spelling???)

...and the bite marks would provide enough friction so that the bones don't accidentally slide down your throat!

oh what a darling picture tukay so reminds me of coconut. they could be sisters coconut would not be able to get the food done without eating it all. she really loves to eat. shes so fat. i've been having to watch son with feeding her cause she begs so much. funny thing, she came and begged some of what i was eating today, then rushed down the hall to son, then back to me we were both eating at our computers, we are sooooo bad! but it really shook her up. lol. i said shes such a chow hound disguised as a chihuahua/papillon mix.

Hahaha...poor Coconut was getting a work out trying to decide who to beg from. Imagine the frustration if a treadmill was put in the hallway so that as she ran she couldn't get anywhere?
Tukay has been in her glory since yesterday. I did the baking, stuffing and veggies yesterday. She paid close attention to everything I was doing. Today the turkey is in the oven, and she's really enjoying the smells. Must make for a long couple of days to smell all of these great smells and have to wait so long before she can eat. I imagine her worst nightmare is to be surrounded by food that she can't reach.
Happy Thanksgiving! Don't forget the special Pogo badge that starts tonight!

Hi Imcueva! It's so mice to see so many new faces, I hope you like it here are much as I do! Pets can be just like people in their likes and dislikes. I have two chihuahuas that are as different as night and day in what they like (or don't like) to eat. One seems to like foods that are more aromatic, so maybe she would try the durian too. I haven't used that fruit, is it sweet? Bitter? What kind of pet is Mobee? I bet she enjoys having a family that lets her try new things!

Hi praveenleela! You are really new here, I feel honored to be your second response! I hope this is the beginning of many hundreds for you and that you have a great time here! Sometimes it's fun to let our imaginations run wild and play the 'what if' game. Our beloved pets don't have hands to cook with, but I can't hold that against them. My husband has two hands and can hardly boil an egg without making a mess.

When I used to have a lot more kitties they were turkey junkies...in fact I remember eons ago, my one cat Snoopy (now in Rainbow Bridge) would stand guard in front of the oven while the turkey was roasting. Once the turkey was done, I would have to cut up large portions of it and give it to the cats BEFORE I dared carve out my portion (or risk getting dirty looks from feline eyes) My two cats now don't really have an interest at all in the "festivities" of the holidays or the meals I cook up. As for what would they "cook" up for me? You're probably right...they probably would dish out a bowl of kibble for me...and maybe shape some of their Fancy Feast food in shape of a turkey..LOL

I used to have a cat named Snoopy as well, who was a big turkeyaholic. Well actually, there wasn't much food that she didn't like. She learned early that if she sat on the back of the sofa that she had a pretty good view of what I was doing in the kitchen. That way she could make her grand entrance into the kitchen when everything was ready to serve. Heaven forbid if she made an extra trip when the food wasn't ready. If she had dished out dinner, she would have gotten the big plates with the turkey and I would have had the kibble with a few pieces of turkey mixed in...and on a small plate..lol.

Hi smile! Welcome to myLot yourself! I hope you enjoy your time here and make lots of new friends! Pets to me are very much family members. Living with us they spend almost as much time watching us, as we do watching them, and they really do seem to learn enough about us to anticipate the results...at least where food is concerned. My dog hangs around the kitchen whenever I cook, but when it comes to cleaning up, she disappears as quickly as the rest of the family.

Your dog is so cute :) I do not think pets would have the patience to cook at all. I think they would just eat it raw! LOL. Happy mylotting!
