As most of you know I work at a Hospice.
I really like my Job and the People there. It's sad at times but we always try to laugh as much as we can.
Today a patients Family Member came up to me and gave me a hug and said"I really appreciate everything you do around here". I thought that was really nice of her.
The Nurses and CNA'S get that a lot but I'm Housekeeping and I don't get that much involved with the patient care. So that really made me feel good.
When was the last time someone made you feel good about your Job or about Yourself?

that is excellent!
it is always good to know that you are appreciated, no matter what you do.
i mean, you can know that you do a good job and put the effort in but when someone praises you for it, it really makes your day.
at work, every now and then, my boss will congratulate me on the work i have been doing, or at school but its not quite the same.

Hi missybear
That was kind and sweet of that family member to go out her way and notice what you do. Plus she wanted to share with you what she sees in you. I think that we all don't notice the cleaning personel in any place of business, and to me they are the special ones too.
I have had more comments about myself on here then I have had in a very long time. It feels good to be noticed and accepted. Thanks for asking and good discussion.
Have a nice day.
Keep smiling.

That's really nice. I would definitely feel appreciated too. That's one of the biggest perks of doing a great and sincere job. I, too, wouldn't hesitate whenever I see someone in the service industry doing a great job. I would definitely give my positive feedback whenever it's due.

Hi Missybear,
Being in the housekeeping work is such a noble job. You may not directly serving the patients in your hospice but you are putting all you caring deeds in every meal that you prepare for them, food that will give them nourishment, food that will keep them strong to battle remaining days in their life's journey. You deserve more. So, please allow me to give you a POWER HUG too!
It's really a good feeling knowing that somebody appreciates you and the kind of work that you do. i may not receive an affirmation today but in my heart i've touched someone's heart by giving her kind words and affirmation for a job well done. At home i just gave my two sons a big and tight hug for being good in school and receiving a star.

You are welcome. Actually we don't have thanksgiving celebration in our country just like yours. But we have our festivals and other big celebrations within the year where we can express all our gratitude for all the blessings that we receive and of course--- everyday we say Thank You to the almighty for everything!

Let me add to that missybear. This doesn't answer your question but I just want to add to that hug. We worked with hospice a few years ago when we brought my husbands mother home for her last days. The hospice people that came to the house were so wonderful. We appreciated every one of them from the aids to helpers that came to clean and help cook.
They made our lives so much easier.Bless you and thank you.

That is really great to hear! I love getting compliments on the job, but haven't had a job in two years, so can't really remember the last time I got complimented.

Hey missy! I think that was very nice of that family to thank
you! Your job is just as important as the rest of the staff!
You have a very difficult job and deserve to be thanked! I
worked in a Hospice Office briefly and I know how difficult
that it must be to work in that environment. I am really glad
that you get noticed for the difficult work that you do! That
is not an easy environment to work in.

It is so good that people express appreciation for your contribution. With fast increasing requirement from people in need of help because of aging and physical disability, we need institutions, and people, who are devoted to fulfilling the mission.

As far as I'm concerned, I think the last time who makes me happy and feel very good is my girl friends who always besides. When I am in low sprit, I just can think of her,and she will come to me and Some time past, I will just feel happy then.

Well when I helped someone when they were choking, I received a card from them the next day, saying this is the least they can do for saving his life. I felt so unbelievably happy.

Hi~,missybear! really nice to see u feel good about ur job. well, i didn't remember the time when i got appreciated, but i always tried my best to do my work and everytime when someone said 'thank u' i will feel really good, whether its big deal or some tiny issues. taking responsibilities and doing the best will make me feel good , of course, getting praised by someone is always better.

I teach college students, and I really feel good when I see that they've really gotten my point, most especially at exams. It also feels good when someone would approach to tell me that he/she really understood the subject and appreciates how he/she could apply the topics I discuss in his/her day-to-day life.
I don't need to know that I'm the 'best teacher' he/she has, it's enough for me to see them really 'succeed' or try to 'succeed' in their lives. It's not about how much they memorize, it's more about how they found that what they have learned from me is applicable to their lives and businesses as well.
It's good to feel appreciated, it's too bad that sometimes people overlook our efforts. But still, that one person who does see our efforts are all worth it.

That's nice that you got a little appreciation. It always feels good to be noticed for what we do. I got complimented a few days ago about my job performance and my boss told me when things started to look up at work that she was going to request I get a raise because of all my added job reponsibilities. Even if I don't get a raise, it was nice to feel like I was appreciated.

ya sounds you are a good docter and care about your patient very good. stick with that spirit and you'll find yourself so helpful to others later on. but here some of the doctors are spoiled with the money and they do not care about the patient at all. they just care the money .

I am really glad that someone said that to you. Hospice is a wonderful organization. They really helped my family when my Grandmother was ill. You should feel good about what you do and I am happy for you that someone acknowledged you.
I don't work and have 2 special needs children. I understand how it makes you feel when someone says that you are doing a good job. I wish I heard it more.
Good for you. :)
Keep smiling.
