Coffee or tea, which is better?

Almost everyone takes coffee or tea at one time or the other in a day, specifically for better stimulation and jest in life. Which is your choice, coffee or tea, and for what reason do you prefer one or the other ? Which is the more effective stimulant and at the same time less harmful ?

I like them both. I drink 3 cups of coffee in the morning to wake up and 1 to 2 cups decaf herbal tea in the evening just before bed. I really dont have any specific reasons for this except that I enjoy it. The herbal tea does help me to relax and I feel I sleep better. The coffee gives me a "kick start" in the morning for the many tasks that need to be accomplished before I leave the house. I drink water throughout the day while working, so I'm not too concerned about the caffiene intake. I don't drink carbonated drinks ('sparkling' water or soda) very often. Maybe 3 times a month.
As for which is less harmful? Everything is harmful if abused. I tend to not worry or be too concerned about harmfulness because one day what is good for you will be discovered to be bad. Scientific studies do it all the time! : )

I appreciate the advice, but I think it is a bit extreme. I drink 3 cups of coffee in a span of 5 hours and do not drink beverages containing caffeine during the day, I drink water. In the evenings, I drink herbal decaf tea for the warmth and soothing of the flavors, this relaxes me. If I drink the black tea, which I enjoy when I am feeling ill, (black tea with lemon, no sugar, no milk is my cold/flu favorite) the caffeine will keep me awake, even just one cup. That is why I drink dacaf herbals.
Black tea is reported to contain the most caffeine of all teas, about 40mg per cup. Coffee is reported to contain 115mg per cup. (I'm sure this also depends on the quality or brand also) It is advised not to consume more than 400mg per day. I do research things and although I do not worry about studies or good things versus harmful things according to science, I am aware. : )

Thank you for the useful details you have given about relative merits and drawbacks with both coffee and tea, particularly why decaf herbal tea is good and what is the permissible intake of caffeine per day to maintain good health. I appreciate your point of view that what is good today is going to be declared harmful by the researches sooner or later, so there is no point in denying ourselves the "harmless" pleasures of today before they going to be branded bad tomorrow. But somehow I also feel 3 cups of coffee and 2 cups of tea every day seems to be slightly on the higher side. Anyway you are the best judge for your health. Take care and have a nice day !

i dont use either. caffiene is bad for your health, especially in large amounts.
i dont feel that i need to use it - i eat healthily, sleep and exercise to give me energy. and i dont like either tea or coffee
if i really need a boost such as having to stay up all night to do an assignment - i take nodoz which is a caffiene tablet equal to a cup of coffee.
but i do this very rarely and its only because i need to stay awake outside my normal routine.

Its good tat u dunn take either...
But friend mind my words... after extensive research its proved tat if u wanna sit at late nights wid sucking things... hav a glass of black tea + lemon for flavour + a pinch of sugar... u will never sleep... but plzz dunn add milk n its best rather than taking a stupid pill which has a major psychological effect and can rather serve as a placebo!!!
Cheerrs!!!

it still contains caffiene and that is the main waking oppenent which is exactly what i am consuming by taking the pill.
i wouldnt take anything that i didnt have all the information about.
and it is not as dangerous as you think, only if it is taken extremely excessively.
i mean, you can buy it in the supermarket.

Hi!
I love my morning coffee. Then I generally drink a lot of green tea for the rest of the day. I don't believe either is better or worse than the other, unless someone has a strong sensitivity..

I prefer tea.tea is healthier than coffee.I rarely drink coffee.I don't want coffee stains in my teeth.tea provides antioxidants,as well as can aid in losing weight.tea is a greater stimulant for me..

i dunn think wat u r speking makes a lot of sense....
Having cofee steadily makes a daily steady intake of cafiene which is not as good...
But having tea is excellent wid its less caffiene, theophylline plus various tannins which are health rejunviating!!!
Cheers!!!!

I prefer Tea over Coffee, Mainly for taste. I think a cup of tea goes down much smoother that coffee and doesn't often leave me with a bad taste in my mouth as coffee does.
I drink my Tea at night because I work 3rd shift and require a little bit of Caffeine to keep me going.
There are times when I know I have to stay awake longer and at that time i will drink coffee if it is available to me. I like it once in awhile but would not like to drink it everyday.

as per my thinking black tea or lemon tea (not the marketed one)are the best stimulant without least minmal bad or side and addictive effects....
Tea consists less amount of caffine which can be perhaps an addictive and may hav side effects on long term but coffee consists maore almost twice than tea...
Besides for ppl wid hypertension tea contains theophylline which a mild diuretic an effective even in normal ppl...
So guys hav black or lemon tea widout milk!!!!
And live long!!!
Cheers!!
