the problem lies in the fact that both ati and nvidia are trying their best to lure game developers to lure towards them and to make them create their games so that it runs better on their gpu's thats why you seethe nvidia or ati logo in games. does that mean that every time i buy a game i need to check if it is compatible with y card? does that mean that i got to have both ati and nvidia cards to make a game run perfectly on my pc?
i think among the turf wars between ati and nvidia, we are the ones suffering
anyway, i always settle with nvidia. ati shows problems with many games.

Note that I'm speaking of my own experience here.
I'm using ATI 4670HD, and I swear that I kind of regret buying an ATI (I think it's AMD now) card. Like everyone else I was sold to it because of its cheap price, and with positive words that people gave it. But I don't really have a nice gaming experience with it. Sure, it may be able to run most of the new games at medium to high quality settings, but the graphics quality sure isn't nice. I've experienced graphical 'anomalies', such as jagged shadows and textures not rendered correctly. The problems can be seen in most Unreal Engine 3 based games and Grand Theft Auto IV, to say a few. First I thought it was a driver issue, so I downloaded the latest driver from their website. Does it fix the problems? No, it doesn't. So after months of updating, only now I'm starting to see those problems go away. So I definitely won't recommend gaming with the ATI card, go with Gforce instead, because they have better driver support compared to ATI.
About making the gameplay more interesting? I don't really think a VGA card can do that, other than Nvidia's PhysX technology that tries add believable physics, 'claiming' to enhance the gameplay. I haven't really seen any game taking a real advantage on that technology, other than adding some fancy graphical effects that can be easily dismissed. I may be proved wrong in the future though.

The things he said is not that true.
The most powerful Graphic card is currently with ATI.
Nvidia has fallen behind in this.
Ati is also good with their prices.
Nvidia usually launches its cards at an insane price and then
when ATI launches its own for a much less price only then do they decrease the price to remain competitive.
People say that ATi has got overheating, issues with compactability.
But such problems are there in nvidia as well!
So all are fine just don't go and buy the most expensive one since in about a months time the price will become half or something!
If u r looking to upgrade just buy the ones with around the performance of maybe nvidia GTX 260 or ATI 5770(the latest and good buy)
If still in doubt check this website.

both of them are good but the video RAM is what matters while installing games
