I usually use extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil. The olive oil is healthy for us so that is what I prefer to use when possible. The only thing is its really very expensive.

I've read olive virgin oil (extra vergine)is the best because it is the most resistant at high temperature, namely it does not discompose in unhealthy components when coking with it. But who can afford it! Generally, cold pressed oils are the best and highly refined oils are not indicated because of lack of nutrients and chemicals involved in processing.

My husband does the cooking in our house, because he's better at it than I am. He likes to use olive oil, peanut oil (no nut allergies here to worry about), and butter, all depending on whatever it is he's cooking.

I usually use sunflower oil for my daily cooking. Occasionally I use gingelly oil for some special purposes. For fryig and otehr daily purposes, I prefer refined sunflower oil. I have once tried rice bran oil for my cooking. But that did not seem to be that tasteful. So I never contiued with that.

Hey Babita! Cooking oil is almost a bad word these days. Im surprised that deep frying isnt against the law. lol I used to use vegetable oil. I still do if I dont have canola or corn oil. Honestly, I dont care what anyone says, oil is oil no matter what name you put in front. It makes the food taste sooooooo good. Happy Deep FRying. MMMMM Fried chicken. my favorite. DL

I love olive oil in most of my cooking, but occasionally use sunflower and canola oils, too. I've never heard of mustard oil. Does it have a heavy flavor of mustard to it or is the name from something other than mustard seeds?

hi babita, i usually use, sundrop and gingelly oil, actually doctors adivice is to keep on change the oil for cooking, when we change the oils, our body will fight for everthing, but, for me its opposite, i won't change the oils anywhere. somebody use cheaper oil, it will effect them surely, i have seen directly to our neighbours. anyway, thankyou, have a nice day.

I 2babitha,
I always prefer to use sunflower oil and groundnut oil for cooking, FOr pickles i use olive oil and gigley oil, since it stays for a longer period. If you change the oil frequently then some people get allergies.
Have a great day.

I use sun flower oil and til oil (sesame oil) for cooking. The particular oil is used as per the item that I make. For certain dishes like avial, ericheri etc. I use coconut oil. I tried rice brawn oil but I did not like it.

I use properly-awesome Greek olive oil - it's by far the best stuff I've ever tried, and really makes a difference in salads, too.
We bought some truffle oil a while back, but it was terrible! (And terribly expensive...) We ended up using it to fry mushrooms and to 'unstick' egg from the pan when scrambling for our weekend fry-up.
The old stuff is the best!
