Do you wear sunglasses?

Seeing that sunglasses are one of the lastest things to be a real fashion statement with many celebs wearing bold designer glasses. They are quite popular even as a hair accessory to a degree.
I don't wear them as I wear glasses normally and I don't see the need for the hassel of switching them around every time you go inside nor paying for prescription ones. My hubby has had the transition glasses at one point and said it got dark at times when you didn't want them too.

I never wore sunglasses for the same reason, the hassle of clipping them onto my glasses, etc. The transition glasses gave me the same experience, darkening when I didn't want them to!
I wish I had worn them, though. My blue eyes are now greenish and I have a cataract starting. My ophthalmologist says it's because of the Arizona sun, I guess 28 years of that horrible sun just fried my eyes. I should have taken the time and trouble to wear the clip ons. Here in the Midwest the sun is more gentle and I rarely need sunglasses.

Hmmm... I suppose that's a good point if you live somewhere that the sun is harsher on you like it is in a desert condition like in AZ. Clip on's are a PITA. However hubby did have some cool frames that came w/ magenetic "clip on's" wich actually fitted the shape of the glasses unlike the clip ons. But I don't recall how much he paid for them or how long the clip on lasted w/o getting bent out of shape or lost *LOL*

I think they were pricey. I don't recall how much he paid for them I know there was some discount thru our insurance for the frames but I don't know I usually pick the free or more reasonable frames (under $50, over what our insurance pays) but he also needs special lens in his as well wich jacks up the price quite a bit.

I saw some glasses like that but they were so pricey that I figured I'd never have a pair! So convenient, though, I'd love to have a pair.

I do wear glasses normally as I cannot manage wearing bi ficals. Cannot get them out! It was horribke as the place where I went for them in th u.K. told me that I was their first failure! have never forgotton that. I sold my car last year, no it was 2 years ago, and bought transition lens that turn dark in the sunlight and so this is great as I can read if in the sun etc. I just love them.

I don't have bi-focals but I imagine they do take quite some time to get used to. My neice who's 12 got bi-focals a few yrs back and she refuses to wear them, but she needs to for school.
I imagine a transition lens is especially beneficial for the area you live in. You probably have more beautiful sunny days than dreary cloudy ones.

When you first wear bifocals you do have problems but I quickly adjusted to them after a week or so.She should be encouraged to do so or of she is old enough for contacts then they do have contacts in bifocals too.

I never used to wear sunglasses, not even after it became such a huge style statement. But recently I noticed that I am getting light pigmentation marks on my cheekbones. That was enough to scare me into buying a pair and an expensive one too!Now I hop around with the sunglasses on whenever I am outdoors.I wish I had listened to good advice earlier!

Nope, I don't wear sunglasses, and never really have to be honest. I just can't be dealing with them, such as taking them off and putting them on, finding a place to fit them when you no longer want to wear them, and the feeling they have on my face.
I don't really like wearing anything on my head or face (hats, glasses etc.) as I just hate the feeling. I know this may sound very weird, but it makes my face feel constrained and uncomfortable. Besides, I'm the sort of person who looks like an absolute idiot in sunglasses. When I put them on, they appear unnatural and stupid.
I like a decent pair of sunglasses when they compliment somebody's appearance or features, yet I believe that for many people (especially men), sunglasses just don't look right. Even worse are when people wear sunglasses indoors. I absolutely cannot stand this and have never seen the point, other than make the wearer look like a complete douchbag.

I only wear regular glasses because I have to. I agree finding somewhere to put them can be quite combersom when you have to take them on and off all the time.
People that wear them indoors usually look suspicious. Though I don't like when they wear them inside my work even trying them out because I've caught a few ladies that put them up to hold their hair back and they "forget" they are wearing them.

I wear sunglasses for eye protection against the sun. The eye doctor said that when you use sunglasses, choose the one with UV rays protection otherwise it will harm the eyes all the more. UV rays penetrate the eyes easier with sunglasses without UV protection. So sunglasses are not just fashion statement, it is a eye health gear. next time you want to enjoy the sun, flash you UV protected eyewear.

I would have to invest in prescription or transition glasses as I wear prescription glasses normally. Just affording the regular ones is enough.

The sun doesn't really bother my eyes other than occasionally in winter when it's fridgid and full of fresh fallen snow everything is soooo bright with the snow reflecting the suns light.

I don't wear sunglasses as I wear near-sighted glasses. If I wear sunglasses, I am afraid that I cannot see clearly. Yes, I see many people wearing them in summer when the sun is blazingly hot. It is good to wear them for the protection of the eyes let alone its fashion.

I dont wear them I havent got the patience for them. Havign to take them off and put them on all the time. Its too much effort. I used to wear them but I accidently wore them in a cave when we was going on a tour of the cave and I asked why it was so dark everyone looked at me and laughed needless to say NEVER again!

*LOL* Yeah they are alot of effort. You also have to have somewhere to stash them when you don't need them like a purse.

Yes. I do wear sunglasses when I go out in the sun. it keeps my eyes cool and protect me from getting headache. If I go out in the scorching sun, i will get unbearable headache followed by vomitting. So I normally avoid going in the sun.

I love sunglasses and always wear them if I am out in the sun during the day. Trend or not, I don't squint in the sun and that prevents wrinkles.

I do wear sunglasses specially when it is hot outside and I notice I look good in them too. From the health point of view sunglasses are recommended specially the sun's rays at certain times in the day are harmful.

i do. for the practical purpose of it - to PROTECT THE EYES.
i am no much on a fashion side, i only acquire things when i know i can use it, so thus i have a sunglasses. sun rays right now are so glaring, it is not good for our eyes, so i better have my sunglasses with me everytime i go an expose myself to sun...
happy mylotting...

I sure do wear them. I wear glasses for reading and up close viewing too but I don't need them for driving or walking...I need them sometimes for gardening though.
I tend to wear sunnies when I drive and when I go out for the day. Going in and out of shops is no big deal as I just switch glasses on my head. I used to not wear my glasses on my head but I was leaving them in the car when I went shopping and trying to shop without my glasses is a nightmare.
Australia is a hot dry country and the roads are straight and long in the bush where I live. The glare from the road can be very tiring on the eyes so basically, wearing protection is absolutely necessary. In the city, where there is much more traffic, the glare bounces off other vehicle windows and buildings as well.
People should be thinking more about eye protection than a fashion statement.

i wear sunglasses whenever i feel there is a need. it is not a fashion statement or accessory to me. it is a real need as it protects my eyes from the sun's harmful rays. it is known that exposure to the sun will cause cataracts when one grows old. in extreme cases, the infrared ray will actually 'burn' a hole in the macular. this is the reason why one should not look at the sun directly during a solar eclipse. i've got transition lenses for my prescription glasses for this reason. i wear my transition ones when i need to look at stuff. i'll put on my sunglasses if i'm going out in the sun.

My husband swears by his glasses that change color according to the amount of light on them. I tried a pair once several years ago, but after a while they still had some color even inside. They are not supposed to do that now, but I won't take the chance. I need all the light I can get.

I generally don't. There are times that I will because the sun is too bright, or just in general, I am trying to keep light out of my eyes. Sometimes, when your pupils are not reacting correctly, it is a better idea to do so.

i have to wear sunglasses. it is hard for me not to. i wear them year round. the summer is sunny and the winter has the glare off the snow that is horrible to have eto deal with if you dont wear sunglasses. i lose so many pairs that i usually opt for the cheaper ones so that i dont feel bad when i lose a paire and have to get new ones.
