Twilight and Muse

Did Twilight ruin Muse's reputation among its avid fans? Or did it secure their place among the masses? I honestly beleive it kept them in the spotlight, which helped promote their newest album.

I Belong To You was only played for about 5 seconds in the middle of the movie before Bella goes on the bike ride if I recall correctly. I am a HUGE Muse fan, and even though it makes Muse even more famous then it already is, I find it kinda disturbing when young teens talk about being 'the twilight band' fans just because they listen to 2 of their songs over and over again. Muse songs have deep meaning, but again, I think they decided to promote their 2 latest albums to the younger generation, via Fictional Vampires and Werewolves.

If anything, it's probably helped them get out there more. Any avid fan they lost due to Twilight Hate was probably gained back from Twilight Fandom and then some.

I was very dissapointed with black holes and revelations. I'm not even sure if it's the name of the album. I was a big fan of muse, but this album really made me stop listening to them. It sounds commercial.

Yes, I like the old muse. Their new songs are not what I like to hear. The only song I can listen from black holes and revelation is map of the problematique. I think there was more emotion in matthew bellamy voice in the earlier albums.

I respect your opinion but mine is the exact opposite. i thought Black Holes and Revelations was pure genius, one of the best albums they had. Matt Bellamy's lyrics and melodies are simply amazing, maybe you have a different taste of music. Origin of Symmetry was very loud but their songs got softer and softer which is good! Who would want to have a band with the same old music for every single album?

Honestly, why would it ruin their reputation? Muse is a superb band, and so are their song, "I Belong To You", that is featured in New Moon movie. It sure does them good as being of one of the soundtrack in a highly anticipated movie. So no, I don't think that Twilight ruined Muse's reputation, though some people does refer Muse as "The Twilight Band". Oh, and happy mylotting!

So they are referred to as the Twilight Band? That's good for them, because they will have a die hard following from 14 and up. I haven't heard the song from New Moon. Is it amazing?

Yeah, some people labeled them as such, with their songs featuring as the soundtracks for both movies, 'Supermassive Blackhole' being the first one. 'I Belong To You' has such lovely words in it, it perfectly suits the couple and the movie. It does sound like a classical song, differs from the other types of music that Muse usually does. Listen to it if you haven't, you surely will be pleased.

Yup! The song is very relaxing, lyrics are meaningful too. Have a listen to it, but I you can only hear it in New Moon if you listen very closely cos it's played softly just for a few seconds!

Muse only used the Twilight hype to get into America and expand their market. Muse's last album was great and i don't think it was a let down to their already established fan base.

I think twilight helped in increasing the popularity of muse. The film was not that bad but I still don't like twilight mainly because it doesn't have a compelling plot. And I hated it even more when they used "Supermassive Blackhole" in the baseball bat scene. For me, I think the song "Supermassive Blackhole" deserves to be put in an epic scene of an epic movie. Just like when the Matrix used Wake up by Rage against the Machine in the ending of the movie. The song made Keanu look really badass in that scene.

ok it's a 50 50 way muse being on twilight it gave them more fans rep and more spotlight time but kinda ruined two of their songs but long time muse fans thought it was the worst choice they made then making fun of new muse fans cause they found out muse by twilight witch i don't really care about just as long they don't putt wilight as the same popularity as muse .

I just find that people are only taking to Muse because of Twilight...in the sense that they don't really listen to the songs, they're just there because 'Oh my God, that song was in New Moon!'. I get that they don't really feel how every other Muse fan does (those who've liked what they heard prior to Twilight, and post-Twilight as well). It has indeed given them a great deal of popularity, which is definitely deserved - they're an amazing band, and their live performances are mind-blowing. But I feel that people aren't liking Muse for the same reasons we did prior to Twilight. Dunno if I've conveyed that right, but I hope you get it anyway.

i think its helped them. i actually read an interview where they actually had no idea their song was going to come out in twilight. They thought their song was going to be in an awesome horror movie but guess not. haha
