Dean Koontz's Intensity...a must see!!

I read Dean Koontz's novel, Intensity. It was a really good book! Dean Koontz is brilliant and I have not been disappointed by him yet.
So when I saw that there was a movie made based on the book I got interested. Of course, I wasn't expecting much because, when is a movie as good as the book?
But you know what....this movie was really, REALLY good. It kept to the book almost 100%--they added a few things to it, but didn't take anything away. Everything that happened in the book happened in the movie, almost exactly as I remembered it.
A couple characters were added (both killed off) that i think were pretty unnecessary. If they had not added the extra characters then it would have just been shorter and it would have been 100% exactly like the book.
If you read the book you'll know what I'm talking about next....but the Elk were replaced by wolves, which didn't bother me enough to ruin the movie at all, but I would have preferred the elk.
The ending was different; the movie didn't end where the book did, but it did have the scene that ended the book. (Make sense?) lol
The acting was really good, John C. McGinley was an EXCELLENT killer. It was the first movie I saw Molly Parker, but she is good and quite stunning!
***I had to watch the entire movie online (someone uploaded to a site) and I really wish it's DVD would be released!! There is actually a petition going around tp get it released, my signature was number 195! I could not find the URL to this petition . But if this movie ever makes it to DVD I definitely recommend it!

I happened to catch the movie a few nights ago and I have to say it kept me on the edge of my seat. Intensity is right! I must get the book and give it a go. There was a French movie that kind of ripped it off called Haute Tension or Switchblade Romance but with a twist ending, you might like it although it is very gory.

I don't like gore, that's why Intensity was good for me, no gore! :) but I'll still look up the movie you mentioned, I'm curious.
If you liked the movie Intensity, then I definitely think you'll enjoy the book (if you like reading that is! lol). While I really enjoyed the movie, I just think the book as better qualities.
For example, they take out the characters of the old woman and Detective 'Truvane?' which I think were unnecessary characters. I think the book explains things better than the book.
I also like the ending of the book a lot more than the movie's.
Let me know if you read it, and what you think!

Oh I don't mind it at all! I love all the discussions you responded to! Love talking about this stuff! lol.
Honestly, if you like King I think you'll like Koontz too. If you want to really want to see how great Koontz is, you should check out his book Watchers. It was the first book of his I read, and after I read it I was completely hooked. Loved it! I've actually read it twice.
Another book I really loved that you might enjoy is called Bad Men by John Connelly. It is really really good. It has some really well developed characters, a great plot and action...and a supernatural twist! Esk! lol

I do read many horror authors such as King and Barker, Koontz was always recommended to me but I never got round to it. I do agree the book is always better, sometimes it does not translate to the screen that well. I will defiantly pick up Intensity as I loved the movie and I know the book will give me so much more. Don't mind me but I am replying to the horror thread I searched for. You came up in a few of them

My all time favorite Dean Koontz book is The Watchers (and I think it'll be hard to top) but Intensity is definitely up there in my top faves.
As soon as you get out of where?? Are you somewhere that you can't get it, or did you mean as soon as you log off Mylot? lol
I hope you get a chance to see it, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

I read a lot of lot of Dean Kootnez stories, and I liked them all. They all got flavor, and they all got the potintal for movie making matierial. Yeah, a few of them do kinda repeat the same plot idea, but a few of them do stand out on their own.
The movie Phantoms was an great addaption, but in my own point of view, the movie just didn't serve the story justice. Which goes along with a lot of stories that get told really well. 2 me, Phantoms was the first film that served one of his films justices. Good FLICK!!!!!

I did see Phantoms, but I did not read the book (it is on my list though).
I think the 2 parter mini series does do justice for the book (of course, books will always be favorite over the movies because people can use their imagination and imagine exactly what they want)...but this movie had great acting and the same story line, so this movie definitely does justice to the book!
