How long should a person sleep in a day or in a week?

I sleep for some 8 hours a day. During weekends I sleep for 10 hours a day. So in a week i sleep for 50 hours.
How long should you sleep really? What is enough and what is too much?

I think it really depends on the person. depends on your Circadian clock. But basically, adults sleep for an average of 6 hours a day, I think. For me, my average sleep daily is 7-8 hours. I always try to make it and hit my target hours because I can't concentrate well when I undersleep or oversleep.

You should sleep as long as you need to sleep. Meaning it doesn't run over and starts ruinning your social life. 7 hrs @ the most in my book, but that's just me.

Well according to my doctor everyone should get atleast 8 hours of sleep a night, I rarly get 4 hours but i have insomnia I will stay up 2-3 days then sleep a whole day and repeat the cycle. everyone is diffrent though but 4 hours is enough sleep for me.

Well scientific research say that 6 hours of sleep per day is not enough, also if you sleep more than 8 hours per day is to much. So the best is 7-8 hours of sleep, and if you have a habit to sleep during the day, is recommended to not sleep more than 1 hour.
