I do feel the need to keep my daily expenses sometimes when I go overboard with spending. But, some how, I haven't quite got into it so far. May be I am not that organised. I appreciate the people who do it though.
Are you keeping a diary for daily expenses?

Do I keep track of daily expenses? Oh, I wish I would have. I'm afraid I way over budget and honestly if I had, I wouldn't be in the mess I'm in. I truly appreciate the people that do and I have actively seeking out people who do this well. I recently purchase a ledger book so I can get my finances in order and start keeping track of where I am spending so I can see were to cut my expenses and get back on track.
Wish they would have made it a required class in High School on how to handle a budget and how loans and credit card interest are handled. When I went to school. They should you how to use a credit book and balance it but nothing on interest and fee's associated with credit cards..... Lesson Learned. Moving on.

I can't tell you the number of times i've thought about this or been grilled about it by my dad. He has been maintaining a diary for years and makes it a point to enter his expenses at the end of every day.
I've tried, kept a diary, misplaced it, tried doing on my computer then forget about it after 2 days. Maybe i'm just bad at managing my finances. I just look into my wallet everyday, make sure i have enough money in there, and go about things i like to do.

Hahaha, you are like me! I hate numbers and cannot really manage them. I have thought of organising myself though but in vain. Things happen, take their course and i think I have a fair idea of my expenses by now.

I do...I've been doing it since my school days. Every single pai is accounted for and I have a little book that I write into. As much as possible, I try to write as soon as I spend the money...but if that's not possible, I do it at night before going to bed. It hardly takes 5 minutes. Once a week..I check the balance I have and tally accounts. End of the month..I check the Income vs expenditure and make different categories too.

That's a good habit, I must say. Only recently, I have started to do note the big expenditures on weekly basis.

I will maintain a day to day expenses diary inorder to know the expenses which are mandatory and unmandatory. by this way i can balance my income and expenditures.Initially i will prepare a Budget for a month and will try to spend within that ...but sometimes expenses comes suddenly beyound our budget. so in that case reserve some amount for such sudden expenses.by doing this we can lead a good and peaceful life.

Yes I do. We need to be very strict on day to day expenses and avoid unwanted spending habits as the prices for the goods and services have been increased many fold as compared to earlier times.

Hi,
I think you have done the right thing in the right time. It is not only just saving money, we will be organised for other things and will get a plan for everything else.
Have a nice day.

I do this, but not consistently. There are months when every cent I spent is accounted for ,and there are months when I have no idea where my money went. On some months I am able to take note of my daily expenses up to the 30th or 31st. On some months I only have lists for some of the days. I obssess over it sometimes but other times I think, what the heck. I think it's okay for me not to track down expenses up to the last centavo since I don't stress about where my money went. My boyfriend on the other hand always makes a fuss about what he's spent and how much he has left. He often loudly ponders about where his money went and so I ended up keeping track of his expenses for him because I just got so annoyed.

Hi Mimpi,
My hubby is asking me to keep a track on the expenses so that we will get an idea. I just listening from one ear and throwing away the same through the other ear. I don’t want to give him an attack..and he is also not too serious so I am escaping from the great task. If you too pushing me then I may try from next month dear.

I am pretty much on your shoes Sree. So, you just relax. I am sure you know how much and to what extent. That's important and we have already admitted that we are not so organised, right?

Not at all.But we have to organize somehow and so,I spare a certain amount for daily expenses and the family requirements for the day should not exceed it.In emergencies and unexpected expenses,I spare separately for it.But it is very bad that we can't have a budget for monthly expenses and we are content that we are not doing any extravagant living.Cheers!

Hi ganesh, my mother pretty much does the same. She saves from her monthly expenditure and makes good use of it when we have occasions in the family. That saves us from a lot of hassle.

Yes, I have a small notebook which I recorded all my daily expenses and the things I planned to buy for the next pay day. I never tired making my own budget to minimize unnecessary expenses. I love monitoring my daily expenses because it gives me a perfect idea where to cut my excessive buying and in what area should I concentrate more. I learned so many things in keeping a note book for my budgetting style because I can traced up where I would minimized my expenses.

hhmm personally I don't keep track of my daily expenses if I am honest.
Mainly because I have my personal bank account and a business bank account so all m expenses come out of my business and the income I generate from my online business more than covers my expenses.
So to be honest I don't really need to though I think it is a good idea to track it, its just I don't
happy mylotting

That justifies it all. But I think some people are very particular about accounts and some are just not and I happen to fall into the latter category. And as per my dad, sadly so.

I do keep track of my daily expenses because I've had trouble with finances in the past and I try to make sure I am not overspending or spending on things I shouldn't be.

Hi mimpi,
i used to do it. however, lately i got tired of it. because i went thru the same pattern every time i do my purchases. what i let consistent about my purchases is on the gasoline. i keep receipts of my gas consumption, so that i can monitor how much i consumed in a day, monitoring.
other than that, i don't. i just tried to minimize my expenses.
thanks. God Bless!

I would love to but I only do it ever occasionally. When Im on a tight budget then yeah I keep a record of how much I spent and what I spent it on. When I have a bit of an extra cash, and Id already put in something inside my coinbanks, then I dont mind not keeping track of my expenses from day to day. I do however would love to be more aware of the things that I spend on and just how much I spend on them cause I think if I do that I might be surprised at the amount and the items.
I dont make lists when it comes to expenses. Im just not fond of taking out a notebook and listing everything I buy every time I buy them. I just make a mental note of them, and at the end of the day, when Im changing clothes and emptying my pockets, I would try to recall just where my funds have gone throughout the day. If that tallies with the cash that I have left then Id be at peace, but when there's even one peso unaccounted for then Id obsess about trying to figure out just where the cash has gone to.
Im careful with that cause there are thieves downtown. Ive been a victim once, and have been attempted on by pickpockets many times. I guess its inevitable that one of them will get a lucky shot.

Hi Mimpi,
Yes i keep a diary of my personal and family experiences on a daily basis. whatever we will save for the day will be placed in the piggy. we make it a practice to take out some amount for as our savings right after we received our salaries then budget the remaining money. it's a good feeling knowing that we will never run out of money because we have a savings...big or small we have a savings.
that's an effective money management technique.

I try to track my earnings day by day too, and I really want to make some money online and increase my earnings with my best. I want to decrease my spending on some unnecessary stuffs, and to cut it as much as I can. I want to live in humble and modesty life right now.
