Who does the shopping for all groceries in your family?

Well, there is always a rush in everything nowadays. People don't even have time to go out and get things that are needed for them. My mom used to get the groceries, my dad use to get the rice, pulses once in a month. Now my mom has become too old to go out. So whatever it is, whether food item, or any household item, my dad only goes out and buys them. My mom thinks dad has to do it, because he only has the finance for everything, and she is just a house wife. My dad thinks she should only do that, because she doesnt have any other work at home. And he is a busy man going to office.

There are times when I wish doing the groceries were old and and in the past and that there was a technologically advanced microwave, similar to that in the "back to the future" series of movies. Where you simply select the meal that you want and it just appears. Until that is invented, my mum and I do the grocery shopping. And we like doing it together, it builds our relationship even further and I enjoy going and having a bite to eat after an hour shopping and being on my feet.

Most of the time my mother will do the shopping for the groceries. This would happen on or after payday.

I do... i believe the women in the house should (if people wanna tag along great...) I wouldn't really trust anyone else to do my shopping because i feel like i know what we need... i know the brands to buy... i know what stores to go to... ect... I've had my husband go before and he hates it not to mention he misses half the stuff on the list and buys the wrong stuff. He also refuses to use coupons! (which i use and save at least $50+)

Ever since I could remember, grocery shopping has always been a family affair. We'd go to church every Sunday then afterward, the family would go buy the groceries. Even now that I'm older, I still like going with my mom to the groceries. I guess I'm lucky to be living in a part of the world where life is not too fast paced. I can't imagine myself being too busy to get my family's groceries....

I feel both should go and get things for home. We go shopping once in a week and get all the things needed for that week.

My partner and I both equally engage in shopping. We split the groceries up as much as we possibly can. I buy so much whenever I get paid and whenever she gets paid she buys what she can based upon her income. I think it works well for us that way neither of us are spending way too much on items because we both deserve to pitch in with the household work.

hubby and i both go and get groceries at the same time. we find this is easier because we often split the list and meet at a certain spot. this not only saves money but time. we also write a list and stick to it.

In our family, we all take turns doing the shopping/groceries. Sometimes mama goes out (if all of us are busy); sometimes it's my dad; sometimes we all go out and do the groceries if we're not busy and also need some family time together. My mom and I usually do the marketing (fruits, vegetables, produce) at the local market because my dad would usually be busy at work... =)

My fiance and I do all the shopping together. We enjoy doing the task together, especially after a week of long hours apart due to work. We get each others opinions on brands, prices, etc. It may take us a little longer then most to do it together but that is okay with us. It's time well spent.

Hi b4balaji... In my case, I live with my in-laws, so they (mom&dad in-law) do the general groceries...they share money (I guess) in buying the groceries and they buy together, since they are still both employed and financially capable. I also do a little grocery for my husband and son's consumption only ^___^.

Well I do all the grocery shopping in the house cause if the man did it we would be living off of junk food and wouldnt make it through the month with only $526 a month to spend on food! I am glad that I do all the grocery shopping though I will only go between 1 am and 5 am otherwise I will never get through the ales and that takes forever.

I do all the grocery shopping in my house. Being a single -parent of two, going to school and working a full-time job makes it so hard. So I usually go once every 2 months. I go spend about $350 and we are all set. Sometimes I dread it thought. Because I always stray from my list.

I do all the shopping for our home, my husband goes only on Sundays to the fish market to buy fresh fish only coz I simply cant take in the smell of the fish market…other than that, I buy all the things myself as I am more satisfied both with the quality and quantity and brands that I myself select.

I do the majority of the shopping for my family and I. As my husband is the only one that "brings home the bacon" so to speak, I'm the one that does the errands, such as grocery shopping. It's only fair, after all. He works hard and needs a break. And I don't really mind as it gets me out of the house anyway. LOL There have been a few times that he had to do both. But that was because I was either too sick to do it myself or we had problems with our vehicle (not our current one...knock on wood) and he'd have to take his motorcycle. As I can't ride a motorcycle he had to go for us. It wasn't very often though. The bike has since been sold and we have a new (but used) vehicle so I'm still the one that does the shopping for us. Happy mylotting!

i do all or most of the food shopping and any other kind of shopping for our household. no small wonder since i do pretty much everything there is to do around. i have been married for 18 years and my husband is just now starting to help out with some stuff at night when he gets home. for years he did nothing to help and we had many arguments about it and then i just gave up. it builds alot of resentment in a relationship.

In my family, both me and my wife go to shopping for groccery items. we make a budget and estimates at the very beginning of every month and thereafter we purchase all the groccery items at that time. We together go for such shopping.
