If you are type 2 diabetic you are also insulin resistant and diet doesn't always work to keep your blood sugar under control. I am type 2 and insulin resistant, I take Metformin and Byeta to keep it under control as well as staying with a low carb diet. Insulin resistance means your body can't handle the sugars from foods and deposits too much fat in the body thus causing weight gain. The medication controls this as long as you stay away from sugar foods, starches, etc, anything with natural sugar. The diet my doctor put me on is low carb, 15 carbs for snacks, 30 for meals. The best way to lose weight is to eat small amounts every hour (six bites). But you will not be able to eat anything with sugar, no potatoes, and you will have to watch your vegetables. You can have all the protein you want because it has no carbs. Check your blood sugar often, exercise 30 mins a day, walk, and stay on the diet as well as take your medication. If your doctor says you don't need medication, find a specialist because they don't know what they are talking about. You need a diabetic specialist or an endocrinologist to treat you. I hope this helps.

Mojo, Diabetese can be controlled only so far. When I was diagnosed being Diabetic Type II The doctor gave me this diet to follow: 60 carbohydrates per main meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) 30 carbs per snack (between meals) Now, being a woman, ans I a male there is a difference (yes I know you know:-) Maybe your carbos per mani meal and snack should be lower. So, Read some labels on the food you eat, and learn your carbs per serving. As far as exercising, more arobic should be done (walk, run etc)Take some Fish Oil caps, approx 4-6 a day and some flax seed. It can't hurt. Read up on some medical journals, magazines, talk to your health insurance company, or govt agency depnds where you live, and take you and yours on a cruise to St Martin and enjoy life:)
