Where's the fudge?

We always seem to have a carton of ice cream in the house. When it is on sale at the store I usually buy a couple of half gallons. Every once in a while for some reason, some brands of ice cream don't put much of their special ingredients mixed inside. I'm talking about if it's chocolate chip ice cream then there aren't many chocolate chips, etc. So this last kind of ice cream I bought was vanilla fudge. I practically had to get the magnifying glass out to even find the fudge. Has this ever happened to you?

hi shar19 nope not with ice cream. but I bought a package of Raisin Bran cause I love the combo of raisins with bran. okay I
pour out a bowlful and what the heck, there were about three raisins in the whole bowlful. I shook the package and poured out another bowlful just to see, there was about ten in that one. where are the raisins in raisin bran? There were always a good handful of raisins in each and every bowl. seems like as thingsgo up in cost you actually get less for your dollar.

That's so funny you're mentioning this about the Raisin Bran. I was thinking the same thing months ago when we had some. My son used to love that cereal because of all the raisins. However, the last time we had them it was very disappointing because there weren't enough raisins. My son asked "where's all the ray-rays?" I wound up adding our own raisins to the box. Maybe we should right to the company and complain.

We don't eat much ice cream with the exception to ice cream sandwiches for the kids. I'm a sherbret MAN!lol Now that happened to me when I purchased some Oatmeal Raisin cookies once. NOT ONE RAISIN!

I don't buy much ice cream, we both love it to much. But I did buy pumpkin pie in what i thought was the 1/2 gal size, when I got it home I found it several ounces short of 1/2 gal and when eating it found little pumpkin taste and lumps of what tasted like raw pie dough. I'll have no trouble not buying that one again.

Yes I would totally agree with you on this. U r talking about fudge, let me tell you sometimes there are hardly any nuts or almonds as they promise. I missed the coco nuts as well.
I remember going to a pizza shop and they were serving a special pizza full of almonds and nuts but none of us was fortune enough to get it.

This has never actually happened to me when it came to store brand ice cream. However, I've noticed that it has happened from time to time when it comes to the name brand ice cream flavors. If I actually wanted to have vanilla ice cream, I would go and just buy vanilla ice cream.
If it were to happen to me right now I would be very disappointed because of the fact that we rarely buy ice cream and when I buy it I am looking for a certain flavor.

I have and it is quite aggravating. I would contact the company that makes it. Hopefully they will make it right with you.

There are more and more companies that are cutting back on quality and raising prices! I don't buy much ice cream but I've found that Kroger brand is pretty good and when they say vanilla fudge, it will have a decent amount of fudge! Their Moosetracks is full of good stuff, too. It's like premium ice cream at generic prices.

Fry's, Fred Meyer, Dillons, Food 4 Less (I loved that store!), PayLess, Ralph's, Smith's and lots of others are part of the Kroger chain. When I lived in the Southwest, it was Fry's and their brand wasn't named Kroger but came from the same distribution center.

hmmmmmmm not that I can remember but that sucks!!!! I mean you paid extra for something you didn't even get, and also even if you didn't pay extra it is still a ripoff cause you're not getting what you asked for! That just makes me mad.......REALLY MAD!

No I have never gotten a magnifying glass out to examine fudge. Even ice cream! This is crazy! Ice cream is like tainted if you magnify it because it is not supposed to be so intersellularly scientific. I actually prefer it the old fashioned way. I actually prefer it in a box, really cold, really refrigerated. Frozen. Ice cream is so good because it peaks in your mouth and makes you friendly toward yourself. Also it is insane because it is so nice. A cow made it but you're drinking it! LoL. Drink it. Also it hasn't happened to me that I liked ice cream so much that I got fat. Never mind, it has happened. I am fat now I am a cow! Yeah. A little cow.
Half gallons at a couple at a time are really good because it can make you extra hungry and eat a lot. And yum. Also experience different flavors. I love that.

That has happened to me way too many times, and that's why I don't buy that kind of ice cream anymore. What I do is buy plain vanilla, and buy chunks of fudge at the fudge store, mix 'em together in the blender, and that way I know how much fudge I'm getting. LOL Works everytime, and boy is it ever good.

Absolutly! That's why I'm always skeptical of the new combinations being skimpy on the good stuff!
I know if it's Edy's or Blue Bunny it's usually pretty good. But other brands really skimp on the lil treats that make the flavor that "flavor". Like you said it sux when you pay how much and there's next to no pb cups, or no carmel/fudge but tucked in an odd corner of the container.

Infuriatingly, this has happened to me many times before, especially with ice-cream offered on discount.
My recent "where's the fudge" moment was with a tub of, believe it or not, Ben & Jerry's ice-cream, which makes this story all the more horrid given how large of a reputation this particular brand possesses.
Now, I have never had the "privilege" to sample a Ben & Jerry ice-cream in my life. For some reason or another I've just always seemed to avoid it. Here in the UK, an average sized tub (that is miniscule compared to many ice-cream tubs I've seen in my time) is usually priced at an extortionate £3.99, ridiculous given its size. After hearing many praises and compliments sang about this brand of ice-cream, I was particularly pleased to nab a tub of Phish Food (a jumble of chocolate-shaped fish pieces, soft marshmallow and other sugar-crammed delights) for the bargain price of £2. Unfortunately, when I started tucking in, not only was the marshmallow missing (only a thin strand of gloopy white stuff no bigger than my finger-nail remained), the amount of fish pieces I had could all fit onto a single spoon! Adding insult to injury, the ice-cream itself wasn't any different than your average scoop of chocolate (well, in my opinion anyway) and gave my tongue a nasty burn.
All in all, an utter disaster :(

No, not Ben & Jerry's too! That just isn't right. Sorry you had a bad experience with that brand. You are right they are very expensive. I only buy Ben & Jerry's once in a great while but it has to be a really good sale. I have had the "Phish Food" flavor before and wasn't impressed either. One flavor that I think you would love is "Karmel Sutra". It's a core of soft caramel encircled by chocolate and caramel ice creams and fudge chocolate chips. Oh so good!
