Did you know that risks of a heart attack increases by 40% according to Harvard reseachers. So set your clock a little eary and hit the snooze button a couple times so you and your heart can wake up. Cause as you waken you body releases adrenaline, and other stress hormones, and increasing you blood pressure increasing your chances for an attack. Monday mornings are even worst, being off Saturday and Sunday when you usually sleep in. So, be careful in the AM.

Good advice there, and very true! I usually take my time getting out of bed in the morning, esp now since I'm a lot older with health problems. Last week I woke up to the sound of my dog growling and barking in the kitchen and I literally flew out of bed to see what was the matter (she doesn't normally do that!) By the time I ran to the kitchen door I got tremendously dizzy before falling to the floor in a faint, and it passed through my mind I might be having a heart attack. It wasn't, thank heavens, but that adrenaline rush plus jumping out of bed and running was enough to send my low blood pressure through the roof. Guess I learned my lesson about jumping out of bed!!

Yeah, you started out with low BP, then got out of bed in a hurry and bam, dizzyness. Being in my sixties now I have a BP cuff that I bought at Walgreens and try to stay on top of it. Also, did you know that if you have a high fat, high carb meal, it may constrict your blood vessels, making them more prone to clot. So if you must indulge, try to keep your portion size reasonable, anda daily aspirin wouldn't hurt. Stay well

I'm in my 60's too Jackee:-) My Dr had me get a bp set-up a few years ago when he started me on my new meds. I have to keep track of it. Good suggestion about the high fat, high carb. (Yes, I did know that, I'm a former nurse. It's always a good reminder though :-) I don't eat either high fat nor high carb. I can't do a daily asa due to the meds I'm on (bloods already thin from them.) Although I was told to eat one if I thought I was having an attack. Wishing you a happy holiday season. I see you're still fairly new here, so a big welcome to the myLot 'family.' See you around! Hugs...Joyful
