Do you intend to sleep more during weekends?

As we all know, we need to wake-up early during working days or during the weekdays. We need to do this to prepare our things and ourselves for the days work.
As for me, I need to wake-up as early as 5 o'clock in the morning to prepare my stuff within an hour then wait for the bus transportation. I usually do this during the 5-days work. No matter how late I slept at night, I need to wake-up at this early.
And since, I dont have the enough sleep during weekdays, I am catching-up more sleep during weekends. Instead of waking-up early, I will take a long sleep and tend to wake-up around 9 o'clock in the morning. I add-up 4 hours more on the regular time of waking up during weekdays.
How about you, do you also try to catch-up some good sleep during weekends? Or do you still wake-up early same as you are doing during weekdays?

In the past I would sleep really long in weekends, as I woke up at 6 on weekdays and I would felt extremely tired by the end of the week.
Now I changed a little my habits, and even if I think "ok, in saturday I'll wake up late" in the end I never do. I wake up after 8 hours of sleep, watch tv in the bed for a while and then wake up. Even if I don't sleep more at least I can relax

Well you have a good point. Sometimes, sleeping is not that counts, it is the relaxation. There are times, you have a long sleep, but, you are disturbed by dreams and that your sub-concious mind is awake. And yet, when you wake-up, you did not feel the relaxation.

No I do not sleep more during the weekends. I do not work except for at home so I do not need to get up early. I usually get up about 8:00am.during the week and the same time on the weekends.

How lucky you are because you dont have to adjust your wake-up time. You need to wake-up on a constant time everyday.

Well, same as you, I almost spend the weekends for sleeping. I tend to catch-up a long hours of sleeping, and sometimes, I dont mind if I dont take a breakfast at all.

I try to sleep more on weekends but so far I still wake up early because of my son. He usually wakes me up to tell me something or just wants me around him when he eats. I do not ignore any of his requests thus I tend to sleep early at nights to make up for my early mornings with my son. But I also like to be awake early mornings for some reason. I got used to it already that I love mornings now unlike before.

That is a good habit. Though you feel to sleep more during weekend, you choose to have a quality time for your son. And that time is priceless, it more than having a long sleep. Spending a quality time to your family, as you have said to your son, is not replaceable by a long hours sleeping. And maybe, that is one of the reason why you like to wake-up early mornings, because, you feel more energetic when you spend more time with your son.

I also tend to sleep-in too during weekends. Like many here, I only get 4 to 5 hours of sleep during weekdays. I try to catch up with 5 to 10 minute naps at work, but still the weekend is where I sleep until up to 11am sometimes. The only downside is that I use up most of my weekend, and I don't have any other time for other stuff.

Hi Bounce58,
With reference to your last sentence that "you dont have any other time for other stuff", you are indeed right. The consequence if you sleep more during the weekend, you cannot do other things.
As for me, I am also on the same boat, that I need to adjust some things to do if I tend to sleep more in a weekend.
Nevertheless, its fine, at least, we try build a strong resistance thru sleeping.
Happy Mylotting.

Hi airaheila, the bliss of waking up in daylight without an alarm clock sounding. That was today, sleeping until after 9. It is so hard to force oneself up when it is still dark outside and so cold first thing, but my normal day starts at 7 not 5, that is really horridly early. I prepare everything the night before so it doesn't need to be done first thing.

Actually it's quite the opposite for me. I intend to sleep less during week ends because I know I have the time to myself and I prefer doing things I like during that time instead of sleeping.
Still, it's not like you can totally escape your slumber to do something else. I obviously get tired and then when I really can't even open my eyes without going through much trouble is when I finally decide to go to bed.

I wake up every morning at 4am, I'm a rubbish sleeper.
I wake up the same at the weekend as the weekday. I guess it is routine.

Not only you and me, but I've seen this happening with all the working couples. But sometime when I get too late to wake up, I feel like more burdened as there will be a short of time for the pending works. So I try to maintain a balance with time, work, and relax.

Well since I don't work I tend to try to sleep in all the time and stay up late working online to make some extra cash If I was working then heck yeah I would be sleeping in on the weekends to get myself all ready for work the next week even though I prolly wont feel like going but you gotta do what you gotta do for a living in these times.

For me it's more the other way around. During weekdays I usually get up when I want to, but on saturdays I have to get up early. I hate to get up early, but once in a week isn't too bad.. Catching up doesn't seem relaxed neither, tho it might be a relief when you don't have to get up early.. but you can be pretty tired at the end of the week..

Well, sometimes I sleep more during weekends. But most of the times, I get up at the usual hour as I do in working days because I go to bed at a regular hour every night, about 10 pm. So I don't feel very sleepy in the morning. Besides, it's good for our to get up at a regular time every day.

I do tend to sleep more of a weekend as i know that i have not got to get up and rush around as i do not have to get the children ready to go to school as well as i know that i choose to see people of an evening rather than during the week like all the other days of the week.So i still go to bed at the same time, but i lay in bed for longer.

Sleeping in the weekends is very comforting, but it wrecks our sleeping clock and pattern. By catching up on weekends, our sleep system becomes confused, and affects our week day sleeps. I do intend to, but it's not healthy.

I found it a little difficult for me to sleep over weekends for the fact that my internal clock formed during weekdays always prevents me from doing that. I will turn and toss constantly as I cannot find the comfort which I had before I woke up. And I searched online, finding out that you would feel even more tired if you change your body clock. Your health will be disturbed by the shift. Some doctors suggest that if you feel lack of sleep in the night, you should try a noon nap which can be as short as 10 minutes but will helps you a lot in your daytime work

Working day must always be a proactive day. I am like you, waking up early in the morning in order to prepare myself properly before going to my workplace. Luckily the workplace is about 7 km away from my home so I don't have to rush and worry about traffic jam. Therefore, for me weekend is my most waited day in a week, every week. It give me some time to re energize myself. I wake up early for my breakfast, bath and a little prayer, then I entertain myself by watching television programs and sleep after enjoying myself. It is a must for me so that I can always enjoy my job in the weekdays.

Sleep is very important in our lives. The lease an average adult should sleep is 7 hours. The bad thing is that sleeping too much is also a bad thing as you need to get your body starting the circulation but taking regular excercise and what not.
After having 5 long stressful days of work or school, waking up early in the morning, coming home late at night, you would know that the next day is a resting day and you would take advantage of it, therefore you would sleep more.
I always sleep around 2hours or more on rest days, I use it as a way to relieve some stress and remove the worries of having to wake up early in the morning.
