Once again we have another kid killing a younger child. Seventeen year old Andrew Conley decided he wanted to know what it was like to kill so he decided to kill his younger brother Conner. He strangled him then put a plastic bag over his head and sealed it with electrical tape. He had not a bit of remorse for killing his younger brother. It is said, he thought and fantasized about killing since the 8th grade. His favorite show was "Dexter" about a serial killer. The reason for the killing he explained like this. "Like when people have something like they are hungry and there is a hamburger sitting there and they knew they had to have it. So I was sitting there and it just happened". What is going on in this world. A couple of months ago a 15 year old girl killed a 9 year old girl and now this. Is there something in the water? Is it TV? Is it video games? Is it mental illness?

i think it has to be a mental illness with someone this young they are not old enough to be just pure meaness like the older ones that kill.i fell so sorry for them because they have ruined their lives at a young age.i still believe they need to pay for what they did.

There is definitly something underlying in my opinion with situations like you have mentioned. I think that the media is a lot bigger than it ever has been so we do have a lot more access to news than we have had before. This can be a bit of the reason why we hear so much more than ever before about this sort of thing. BUT I also believe that these things can be caused by the way things are now too. I have heard that violent games and movies are to blame but honestly I have watched and played this kind of thing since I was a child to and never thought of hurting anyone...especially my family. People are different though so I can't really compare them to me. It's scary to think that a child could be capable of such things.

Yes to have thoughts like this as a kid is really frighten. I wonder if he ever thought of killing his parents. I also wonder if he was jealous of his younger brother. Whatever the case its horrible for everyone involved. Thanks for responding.

It's a sign of the times. Look at some of the entertainment that our kids are exposed to. Dexter, a glorified serial killer is so popular. I don't get it even if he is killing other serial killers he is still a killer and shouldn't be glorified.
As more parents are trying to keep their jobs and make a living they are less in control of their kids because they on;'t know what they are doing for entertainment. some kids seem to have less feelings these days too.

You are right about that. With two parents out working they don't know what they are watching. I think alot of parents are so busy they don't take the time to sit with their kids to just have one on one talk about whatever is going on in their lives. There is such a disconnect and that is one of the reasons for these kids being lost and doing unbelievable acts of horror on others. Thanks for your response.

I really do n ot know what goes through their minds
I will say it could partly be the Games and TV but again they are old enough to know better, how can he kill his own Brother, how can someone have the urge to kill any one I really do not get it and it is very scary that 'Children' feel like that it is terrible

I can't imagine where a child even lets the idea come into their brains. Something had to happen in their lives from birth on. Its just horrible. Thanks for responding.

How sad, those poor parents, how will they ever cope. I don't know what it is that kids get to that point but it's awful. i'm always so sorry to read something like this, i just can't imagine some one doing such a horrible thing to a sibling.

I can't imagine anyone doing that to anyone let alone the sibling. Its just a horrific story and the parents now have lost both kids. I don't know how a parent would handle this. Its just to much to comprehend. Thanks for responding.

I think these things are a mixture of everything,tv,vids, and life in general.A lot has to do with mental illness ,the trouble with that is the signs are very hard to see, your child could seem as happy as anything ,then bam something awful happens.I feel so sorry for all concerned and of course the victim of course.I do think parents should try to over see the viewing habits of their kids of course it is a bit different with a youth of 17.How awful for everyone.

Dexter only kills other murderers so actually Dexter would kill this kid. However, most people his age know that is only a friggin TV show.

Thats true he would be killed by Dexter. I just don't understand what happens to the brain when you start thinking this way. Thanks so much for responding.

Hi lelin1123! I wish it would all end, myself. It doesn't much look like it's going to, though. Somebody needs to do something. Where were the parents in this case? To answer your questions, I think it might be a little bit of all of this. Kathy.

The parents were working the night shift when this happened. Now the parents have lost two boys overnight. Its a shame but I'm wondering if the parents knew something was wrong with their son or not. Thanks for responding.

Hi Lelin,
What is happening to this world? Kids these days seem to have gone too far when it comes to trying/experimenting on things. Aside from the one you mentioned - the 15 year old girl who killed a 9 year old, just about 2 days ago another girl, an exchange student to Italy was found guilty of murder for killing another exchange student. I just hope when my kids reach this age they will be spared from this kind of twisted thinking. It must be difficult for the parents who seem to have no clue at all about what's going on in their children's mind.
