How do you keep your jump rings from coming loose

I was going through my jewelry collection today, and a couple jump rings came apart. I thought they were close enough. Is there a special technique I should be using or is there another product I should use.

people think you need to pull jump rings apart, but what is the right way is to twist them sideways to open, then they don't get the spread that might otherwise happen
I buy sealed jump rings and use wire through them instead of attaching open jump rings to things.

You pull them open sideways. (Don't open jump rings wider as it is very hard to get them back in shape) This way you can push the joins a little bit shut. They may overlap a bit. Once you have them in position you close them sideways again. Works for me. I make beaded jewellery.

Yes you must twist, not pull. Or if there is too much pull because it is too small. Once they are spread out of shape it is very hard to get them back as close as they were. I would suggest replacing them. Bending them back into shape only damages them more. The tools will mark them or weaken them.
