So why? I also notice some other races. Why do they get it done? Just for the look?

is just for looks then? I think that´s animal cruelty. I don´t support that at all. Thank you.

I always thought they do it for show.If you were to show the breed in the dog show,it would have to have a docked tail.I guess they think it looks better.I've always wondered who started this?I would rather have the dog with it's natural tail,I don't care if it looks it's breed.I don't think it's right to dock the tail.

I strongly agree with you. I believe people do it just because of the looks take the cocker spaniels for instance... And among other breeds, I believe this is animal cruelty, poor little things they should have toe right to keep their tail!

First of all they cut rotty tails because they are a working bog breed and it was intended to identify that. In a nut shell that's the way the breed was introduced. People like myself believe that the breed does look better with their tail cut and that's why my 4 rots have nubs.
I love my dogs and they love me. I give them a better life than a dog could ever be capable of having on their own. They are fed well and given medical care as needed. I have spent thousands of dollars keeping my babies well. Tomorrow I am going to have my little 6 year old girls ears pierced. It will be strictly for cosmetic sake. Am I also cruel for that? What a freaking joke. Go cry another river.

well, people have this notion that according to some studies in general, that dogs who have cut their tails are believed to be more aggressive and strong if compared to those pets who have no cut tails..
Even some veterinary doctors suggest some dogs to have their tails cut off for many biological and scientific basis..

What would those biological and scientific basis would be? I just cant seem to understand and no one seems to give me a clear FAQ of why this is done?

I think with some species its to protect it from some sort of spinal condition .. but thats just something I heard.
Like dislocating or something weird like that.
Its just something I heard as I said but yeah.
I've seen boxers and other dogs that generally have thier tail docked with their tails in tact and they were fine.
But boxers have weird tails ...

I see, or maybe we are so used to seeing them without a tail and therefore look a little odd.
