It has been a long time since I wrote in myLot. I think I was inactive for like 9 months, I have been busy, but I guess, it is time to start knowing more about other people's ideas.
Anyways, a lot has happened, and sad to say, my father lost his job again. The company wasn't doing well, that they were force to remove some employees. A lot has lost their jobs now, and a lot are now jobless. Come to think about it, it is like how many more days to go till Christmas and I do not know. Hehehe.
With these events happening, like the Massacre, the Flood and others, I felt like I can't be happy this coming Christmas because of the unfortunate events that has happened, but I still smile even though it is hard to accept that my family has now been suffering from job loss.
How about you guys? How is it in your side? Do you feel that this Christmas will be enjoyable or not?
Hope I hear your replies soon. ^_^

Yes, of course. I can feel the spirit of Christmas even before radio stations played Christmas songs. I always love Christmas season, this is my favorite season of the year maybe because I have so many wonderful memories of Christmas in my childhood years. This is my happiest days of the year.

Well, the spirit of Christmas is about giving. Losing a job is unfortunate and it can happen at any time. If it happened during the Christmas season then I guess it is most unfortunate but it doesnt mean that you have to stop giving or I dont think that will stop you in feeling the spirit of Christmas. You can spread the Christmas spirit by giving and not just physical things. You can give service to those in need. You can also give love on Christmas day. Happy Holidays!

Yes this year our Christmas is very difficult and a bit sad. Honestly we don't also feel the spirit of Christmas unlike before. We experienced lots of calamities and unemployment. We should be thankful because we are still alive even if we don't have money we can celebrate Christmas together with our family.

Hello taki. I am so sorry that your father lost his job for the time being, but I wish your father would soon get one with his luck and effort. Yeah, Christmas is coming soon, but I do not feel much the spirit of it as it is not our traditional festival. I am getting excited for the coming of the winter vacation.

Of course,Christmas spirit is here in thePhilippines. What is the reason why we celebrate Christmas? It's because of Jesus Christ. You know, I understand you guys. Because in our country we associated Christmas as BONUS, CHRISTMAS SHOPPING, CHRISTMAS PARTY and etc. It's a material world. You know maybe the reason why we have this calamities, massacre in our country, Global Crises, there is always a reason for everything. It's not a curse but a blessing, so that their will be realization among us Filipinos. At present, we must be thankful always, because we are living in a period of uncertainty , this is the darkest period in our history. So each one of us must contribute so that change must take place in our country. The next leader of this country must be strong, because he is facing a huge problem in the country. So we must help and cooperate with him. We must give up all the material things in ourselves for the sake of the future generation. So Merry X'mas and a Prosperous 2010!!!!

Well I can't say that this Christmas is sad for me but it just doesn't feel too much like Christmas. I live in Miami and it's hot whereas up north it's cold. You kinda have that thought that Christmas is suppose to be cold so we can cuddle by the fireplace and stuff like that. We can still go to the beach here. Another thing, Christmas is about family being together. You don't necessarily have to go broke on buying gifts because it's very unfortunate about the job loss but just think how much worse it could be. Whenever you think about your situation at home, always remember there's someone else out there in a much worse situation than you area so just thank God for what you do have. At least you have each other and life, health and strength.

I am doing my best to feel it, but I feel like this Christmas is going to be the last Christmas I have with my entire family. My grandmother and my step-father are not well, so I am doing my best to make the most out of this Christmas.

Very sorry to hear that your family is suffering from job loss. That does make it tough to enjoy Christmas. Hopefully you will be able to find some little ways to show love to each other. When material goods are minimized, there is more opportunity to share meaningful personal relationships. I hope that is possible with those close to you.
Even if you do not feel like celebrating Christmas now, don't give up yet. And if you have it in you to pray to God, then by all means do it. He will help you much.

First off I am not writing to bash your faith or your holiday, The spirit of Christmas, first off Christmas is a holiday for people who are of the Cristian faith but it seems like this holiday is celebrated all around the world just for the presents, whether that person be of that faith or not. I don't feel the Christmas spirit personally because I am not a Christian, and even if i was. because, Christmas is so overrated with shopping and money and who's getting something and santa claus and a tree and such things. this holiday like many others rarely has anything to due with the real reason which in this holiday is supposed to be the date Christ was born according to the bible, but I always question the fact that is this information even accurate thats another discussion. But as far as this holiday according to the Christian faith you should give everyday not just on one day and not just presents. Jesus did not just give once on his birthday He gave until the day he was killed. And another question how many Christians get up and pray Christmas morning instead of worrying about presents. I feel that the world is the way it is because people are not true to God what ever faith they may be. But since you are a Christian I respect your faith and hope you do have a good holiday. and as far as your father the best thing to due is to try to support each other as a family during these hard times and know that tomorrow is a new day and understand that when one door closes another one opens.

My father also doesnt have a job right now because his company was sold to other company, it changes there management as well as the staff. But we are still thankful that me and my brother still have a work so there would still be income in our family. I am thankful for the blessing this year and I can still feel the christmas no matter what happened. Its just saddened me to know that there are lots of people who die this year because of the massacre and typhoons. But I belive that god wont let them down.

i think that to everyone in general, the spirit of christmas doesn't really matter. Jsut what we get, the money we're spending, and the sales. It's been too commercialized.
Not only that, but for me personally, I don't feel the spirit of christmas. The world is too ugly.

The last quarter of the year was indeed filled with many dramatic events in our lives and our country. The floods, the never ending controversies and the ongoing economic crunch that many Filipinos are suffering from like losing of jobs and many hardships.
It is sad to see Christmas like this but, I am just thinking on the other side of the coin, maybe it is time to reflect on the past days what Christmas is supposed to be. Is it necessary to put on decorations and everything and have a festive family gatherings and give expensive gifts to each other to say we do have a happy Christmas? I think we should remember where Christmas originally came from.... "The Manger". It was so quite and no festive celebrations that happened when Christ was born. Only a star that shone above them and a few shepherds have known them and visited them. The three Magis did come in later and gave expensive gifts but they gave it because they know how valuable the baby is to them.
I think we should also reflect on that too. We should celebrate it as simple as possible as it was the first Christmas. The merry making is really not a necessity especially in these times. Maybe that is what the message of all of these things happening we have become too materialistic that we tend to forget the real meaning behind Christmas is simply Love. it is intangible and no money can really buy it.

Hi there! I am glad this will be my first response after a long time absence, probably 1 year.
It is the case that many people suffered a lot during year 2009. Even though people should have faith in themselves and be optimistic. After all, tomorrow is another day and there exists hope.
Regarding Christmas, it could be a reminer telling that a new year is coming and after a gathering of the whole family with conclusion for the past year and expecatation for the coming year, you should plan and prepare well for the coming days.
As an old saying says: Life could not always be sweet. that's just how life goes. And these hard times help us to accumulate such experience which help us grow up.
Hope you can recover from such shade soon!^_^

Hi there friend, always keep the faith. Enjoy every single moment of your life no matter where life takes you. In this Christmas Season, even if we don't have a lot of decorations, foods, gifts, and other material things... it doesn't bother me at all nor prevent me from celebrating Christmas in a joyful ways. Christmas is not all about things on earth but it is all about the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. Let us always set our mind on things above and not on things on earth. You can have the most wonderful Christmas without spending anything. A candle lighting for the noche buena with a simple bible reading with the whole family means everything; to gathered all your love ones in one roof during in this time of year is the greatest gift you can have - it is priceless compare to those expensive gifts you can see in the market; the laughter of every family members while hugging and kissing each other in the Christmas eve is the most wonderful feeling to have; and above all... thanking God for the life we had, for saving us from our sins is the greatest gift we could share to each other. A Blessed Christmas to you and your family.
