No police! No army! What would the world be like? How would you survive?

I'm a lover of movies that contain end of the world scenarios like 'The Stand' and perhaps '2012' if I ever get around to seeing that! Has it ever crossed your mind what it would be like if we were to suddenly have no police, no army, no established government? This has to be the ultimate nightmare and I'm sure there would be nothing but anarchy and chaos. It truly would be a matter of survival and it's quite a frightening prospect to think about. If there were no laws then everyone would be doing what they wanted when they wanted and there would be nothing to stop them. How would you protect yourself and your family? How would you protect your home? The decent people of this world would have to grind their teeth and become tough and do whatever it took in order to survive. When I think about this I realise how lucky we are to have a police force with laws and an established government. What are your views on this one? Andrew

Well the world would be the best place to live and life would be fantastic for us teenagers with noone to stop us from doing anything.we can do whatever we want.however i have to admit that hazards would increase with increase in criminal activities and lack of law.

It would be how it was in Ancient Greece and Rome. Men would try to rape women, people would be fighting for food and survival, people would want to kill others, and it would just be crazy.

Yes, that sounds like a horrendus environment to be living in! I'm sure the world was like that once upon a time and even in today's day and age these things go on in countries where law and order has broken down. It's not a world that I would want to live in in any case! We have an established police force in place but you hear on the news at times how certain officers have become corrupt and it puts a bad light on the whole police force. Still, I would rather have them in place than not have them at all. I guess we can deal with the few bad apples that there are! Andrew

I think that we should have organisations to maintain the territorial peace and the civil security, otherwise, there wouldn't be governement and society. In the the prehistory, human could live without administration, but we can't return to this period, as our thoughts are now too complicated. However, nowadays I see that a structure set up to keep the peace and the security sometime shows its efficiency in triggering off wars and violating human rights.

Yes, there's definitely corruption taking place within certain governments around the world and you ask yourself whether it would be a good idea if these so called governments were eradicated altogether! Still, I'm glad that I live in a country that has a government, as imperfect as it may be, and also an established police force. I don't think I would like to return to the days of old when there was no such setup. The human rights issue is a big thing and there are many problems in relation to this in certain parts of the world! Thanks for your thoughts. Andrew

That would be a bad situation. There won't be any peace of mind. I guess people would make a group and defend themselves and set rules within them.

Yes, someone else mentioned that! It's more than likely that we would fall into tribes of some kind and I'm pretty sure that there would be constant disputes between the different groups. There have been so many movies that depict these scenes and it's not nice to look at really, quite horrific to tell you the truth! I'm glad that there are certain organisations in place! Andrew

Yes, I'm certainly grateful to have them around and I'm sure that there job is very difficult at times. I think the world would be a very difficult place to live were it not for established governments being in place. No government is perfect and it seems at times that there are constant problems which fail to get sorted out. Still, I would rather this than live in a world where everyone was cutting eachother's throats and stabbing eachother in the back! Not a nice thing to think about really! Andrew

hehe,i cannot tell how lovely you are~~
the police sations are still existing in the world and so do the army and governments.and i believe that if there is one day that no police,no army, that means we do not need them any more.here is a saying"only in the sates does only man have a rational existence" that is if the police and the army are no more, that is a rational thing.maybe at that time, the whole human-beings' quality will be promoted to a level we can not foresee.

I guess we are always going to need some kind of army in place, that goes for the police force as well. I'm sure people feel more secure when there is an established force in place. I hope we never experience the day where all this has been taken away! Thanks for your thoughts on this and a big welcome to My Lot as well. Andrew

Andrew, some years ago in Afganisthan, this kind of situation was prevailing. There were no police and no army, and the warlords had sliced up Afganistan, and they had their own militias, and they used to run their own kingdoms The western world may say that George Bush was wrong in invading Afganisthan, but history will say, that George Bush, was one of the saviours of the world, when he threw out not only this warlords but the dreaded Taliban also. If that regime had continued in Afganisthan, the day would not have been far, when a large part of the world, would have become just like you have mentioned.
Andrew, since you are from U.K. you might have not known what was happening in this part of the world, but this is the reality. You might have imagined this discussion, but this thing has happened in reality. We Indians were also a victim of the Taliban, because a Indian Airlines plane was hijacked to Kandhaar in Afganisthan, and we had to release 5 dreaded Terrorists in exchange for the passengers. And one of the released terrorists, bombed Mumbai last year with his terrorists pals.

Yes, I'm aware of the situation in Afganistan, it's not very nice out there. I don't like the politics of that but it's true, they have been without law and order and it's hard to understand what that would be like out there having not experienced it for myself. All said and done I'm really glad that we have an established government and a police force, it may not be perfect but at least it's in place. Thanks for your thoughts. Andrew

Are you military worker or what? What is the purpose of military weapons - to cure, to bring love, make us feel with harmony with nature, to make us unconditionally respect each other? Do you believe law's equal for everyone? Army and police serve a group of people and in many cases the one owning more money and power. Poor people are doomed to be EQUALLY poor in the hands of law. If you make a theft because you feel hungry you can go to jail because you've got no money for decent lawyer. And if you're billionaire you'll go to jail only in case you want to - some people go on purpose in jail to bring sympathy in some people. They get better accommodation - they're not with the mass in prison. Most of society's build lies, hypocrisy and forced feel of guilt in weaker people. You and you're family are not protected if someone superior is against you... Government is the root of all evil - "take more from middle class and give it all to aristocracy - sly people and those without ethics must rule honest and ethic people" - that's a secret definition of government. It was, it is and it will always be like that - the protection and peaceful life is combination of money and luck. Take a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fleet_Prison and Hiroshima After The Bomb (Color Footage 1945) in youtube.com. Man either you live isolated life or you're a military or police worker. Read and watch documentary - educate yourself in order no to talk childish things like that.

Hi trohichko, NO! I'm definitely not a military worker or anything else for that matter! In certain coutries yes, I believe the law is equal for everyone although I know that this is not the case in other countries. The army and police are there for a reason and yes, there will always be the corrupt few! I'm educated enough thanks and your views are very biased to put it bluntly! It's not always like that! hey man.. without government?? neat!! our government here in our country sucks anyway so we could be better off without 'em.. lol.. but i guess we need law enforcers coz they make the world a better place by keeping it safe.. unless they're the ones doing the crime.. lol.. it can be true sometimes.. they just use their uniform and power for their own little schemes..

Ah! That's a bad thing when you have a corrupt government! I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of government officials that abuse their position but I'm also pretty sure that not everyone is like that! I think that it's definitely a world that I would not want to be a part of! Living in London, well the laws aren't perfect but at least we have them and hopefully they can keep us safe and secure to a certain extent! Thanks for your thoughts. Andrew

No police no army that means no government anymore. To survive and live, people would get together to protect themselves. There'll be many tribes stands for each class's benefit. I think finally sereval most powerful unions will set up their government, army and police again to rule the world...Histroy always repeat itself

That sounds like a lot of the films that I have seen! End of world scenarios and how everyone starts to pull together in order to survive in the new world order! It's not a situation that I would like to experience in real life though. Andrew

I don't want to imagine such a world!. I guess I can do that with a lot of reading, there are plenty of fictional stories like this! There are obvious trouble spots in the world and things are fairly chaotic but I don't understand the politics behind it all, I leave that to the boffins!. I'm actually grateful that there is some kind of law and order in place. Thanks for your thoughts. Andrew
