Hi all. I recently found out that someone in my husbands family doesn't tell her children the whole "Santa" thing. It was kinda shocking to me as even though I knew there had to be people that don't tell there kids this, I didn't think I knew anyone in our family. I kinda fell bad for the kids, they are still young and I remember growing up how exciting it was for me. What do you think? Should kids be told there is a Santa?

Yes I think all children, at least up until they are mature enough to believe in santa. Imagine having a christmas where santa never exists meaning that there is no "hero" they can look up to to give them their wanted presents or fill up their stocking or eat their milk and cookies.. It would be horrible for children not to believe in santa, especially since this santa thing is what revolutianised the whole christmas event. Im my opinion, if santa didn't exists (at least for young children) christmas wouldn't be as enjoyable as it could be for them.

I agree. It was very enjoyable for me as a child to believe in Santa. I forgot about the whole milk and cookie things. I do remeber checking to see if he took some milk and ate the cookie, that was something else I looked forward to. It is very sad to me that this particular person in the family doesnt tell her kids about Santa, the worst thing is, she doesnt really have a reason not to. When asked why she just says she just choses not to, there is no real reason! Sad for the kids they are still young between 2-10.

I think that children should be allowed to believe in Santa, if they want to. Whether they chose to believe in Santa or not, it should be up to the child, and not so much up to the parents, in my opinion. But some parents don't feel the need to tell their kids about Santa, and such. Each parent have their own way to raise their child. but it's the way that life goes.
