Well for myself I really look forward to being able to sleep longer and not be a slave to my alarm clock, so I look forward to those days off. I also really appreciate spending time with friends or family you haven't seen for a while, and socializing at parties. I'm also looking forward to sampling sweets like cookies and cakes over the holidays. I'm also looking forward to going to those Christmasy type events, like a "Candycane lane" where they have rows of lighted displays you walk through. One place we always go to is Van Dusen Gardens here in Vancouver, so beautiful to see. I also look forward to wearing new clothes just for the holidays. Also relaxing since all my shopping is pretty much long gone now. I also really like taking my little nephews to these miniature Christmas train rides that are all lit with Christmas lights and sampling cocoa and roasted chestnuts with them. Finally, I'm really excited because it doesn't look like we'll be having the crazy snowstorms that we had last year, so we can relax this year and not continuously shovel all day long. How about you?

Holidays here in the Philippines is an event or occasion where everyone always look forward to. Aside from it is a day to reunite with our loved ones, it is also a day of gift-giving and food tripping.
As I live and work in the metropolitan, I look forward of the holidays because it is a time for me to go at my hometown for a holiday break. I look forward reuniting with family, relatives and old friends. I look forward of the christmas and new year's eve. It is because it's at those times where we just bond with the family especially the kids. I missed my nephews and niece. I just love playing with them and seeing the joy on their faces as they open their gifts.

Yes I think most people are in agreement that what they love most about the holidays is being surrounded by loved ones. Probably next would be eating all the fabulous food, or sleep. It's sweet when you see little kids get so excited over their presents, entertaining to watch isn't it...

Hi Ily
First and foremost, regarding the holidays, I love the extra time with family all gathered together.
I also enjoy the bigger smiles and friendlier ways of people in general, the sense of goodwill and of giving to others.
I also love the music and the special decorations that set the season apart, and for me, the holiday is a spiritual one.

Helloo Karen,
You know that is very true that during the holidays, people generally tend to be on their best behavior, well apart from the scuffles that you get at family gatherings that is. lol I also appreciate the sense of goodwill as well, and yes the music, lights which are very beautiful to see.

There are a ton of things that I look forward to with the holidays coming. First off, I am looking forward to the time that I am going to get to spend with my children. My daughter is in first grade this year and since school has started this is the first time that she gets to have a significant amount of time off. I'm looking forward to seeing my cousins and aunts and uncles some of whom I haven't seen since this time last year. And, I've got two cousins that have had new babies recently and I'm really looking forward to meeting them. However, above all, I am most of all looking forward to seeing the joy in my children's faces on Christmas morning.

Hello friend,
Oh so you're really going to be having lots of quality family time, well that's nice. It sounds like you'll probably be having a packed house full of people, and new additions to your family. Yes it's cute watching childrens faces light up during Christmas, I agree.

I look forward to a nice break from work. Before when I was in school I loved getting that month off from schoo. Now I wish I had that month but the five days that I get off from work will be a blessing. I admit it, I like the whole present thing. I like getting gifts but I like everything surrounding the season. It's fun to sit at home and look at the lights and get gifts and give gifts and stay warm inside.

I like all of those things you've mentioned as well. I agree it's nice to just sit around and look at the lights. I was doing a bit of that myself today, well reading while admiring the lights inside. I think I like it most of all because it's a joyous time of year when people try to be on their best behavior, well some of the time at least.

ilyzium I really do not know how to answer this as the only family I have is my son who is out of work now, so all the wonderful giddy hoopla is washing over me and making me want so scream. I do not have a home anymore,I am stuck here in a retirement center, I want once more to live in an apartment with my son, okay we have a christmas party fhere next friday and that will maybe cheer me up but I have wonderful memories that now make me want to just cry as this is not home, I am a widow for many years, I am not used to living here in this institution, I am not senile I do not need waiting on, i would love to cook my own meals again, do for myself again. I am waited on here and it makes me feel useless.they are all very kind to me, everyone is nice, but its not like your own home. I think I will be glad when things get back to normal.

Ohh...I love the holidays - no need to get up early and join the crazy traffic jams, meeting demanding clients and work deadlines - totally cut away from stress of work! I enjoy working up late, taking my parents out, shopping for Christmas and of course eating!

I just love Christmas. What I look forward to is being with family and friends. I love the decorations and the holiday movies and songs and just everything about the season. We used to go see lights at a fair ground here, and Christmas shows and events, I loved it. Now I have difficulty walking so I don't do as much as I used to but I still enjoy it.
I guess I also look forward to having an excuse to eat cookies and sweets. I love them but I try and stay away from them.

Hello friend,
You enjoy all the things that I do around the holidays. I agree with you about spending time with family and friends the most, because the holidays wouldn't be special if we didn't have loved ones to spend it with. Yes I love going to see the lights at different events. Here we take our nephews to this Christmas train ride every year that has a lit up petting zoo, and where you sample roasted chestnuts and cocoa. I have the biggest sweet tooth as well so I try to abstain from sweets or exercise more if I know I'm going to pig out. ;)

I'm looking forward to exchanging gifts. I love to see the look on people's faces when they see what I got for them. Since I normally make something to include in everyone's gifts [something edible, if you know what I mean] they look forward to my gifts. I fooled my nephew one year by giving everyone else chocolate covered pretzels, and when he opened his gift bag it was a bag of raisins! Haha, I gave him the real gift [a bag of sugar cookies] after he started throwing raisins at his sister.
I also am looking forward to the family get-together. We have two each year - one of the 4th of July and one around Christmas, this year it's on the 20th. My mom doesn't go because it's in a Church basement, which she can't get down into. But my boyfriend and I go with my brother and his family - to save gas. We rotate each year who picks up who. Our family functions are normally pretty fun - with TONS of awesome food! It seems as though the women in our family are separated into two groups - the bakers and the cookers. Haha, I'm a baker, though last year I brought a dip that everyone devoured!

Yes I agree because I also like to exchange gifts with people and always try to find thoughtful gifts that people would appreciate. Good for you that you can bake, and sounds like you put care into what you make. I do bake though I really prefer to cook because you don't need to be so precise or methodical about what you do. Yeah Christmas really is about spending time with family and eating, and that about sums it all up.

I also love the fact that I get some time off of work during the holidays. Getting to spend time with my family and friends are things that I enjoy too. It's great getting to spend time with my brother and sisters and parents for the holidays and I also enjoy it when my wife's family comes in for Christmas. We don't get to see them very much throughout the year because they live further away.

I would agree with you on those things, because family is so important during the holidays and the holidays really wouldn't be holidays without our loved ones around us. Yes it's great when you have time off during the holidays so that you can really appreciate everything more. Thanks for your comments.

For me the holidays mean lights and a cirgtin warmth from people. Seeing people reaching out to help one another. You don't really see it year round. But I guess I'd have to say the best are the lights. I love those lights. preaty and I could stair at them for hours.

I know what you mean about helping out others, especially those less fortunate because that's something that I think about more often then. I try to donate money to different causes like the Salvation Army as well as SPCA to help animals. This year I'll probably donate money to PETA as well because I really do believe in protecting animals. Yes the lights are beautiful to look at this time of year aren't they?

I really wish I could sample some good food. I had surgery so I can't eat much. I missed out on eating thanksgiving. So food would be what I want for this coming holiday.
