are you sick of these one-word answers?

This idea of asking how old are you, whats your favorite color, Type yes or no. I mean why not just ask people to type their favorite letter. how lame . I am new to this but part of my reasoning for getting on this was to enjoy some genuine conversation. only replay with at least a 2 sentence answer if you are able.

Not only am I sick of the one-word answers, but they're against myLot's guidelines. The "guideline" link is at the bottom of every myLot page. As you come across the one-word discussions, all you have to do is report them using the ! key and myLot will delete them.

I don't know if anyone has really figured it out, because I think it has changed over time. It seems to be based on a variety of things including your number of replies, number of photos uploaded, how many times those photos are viewed, number of discussions started, of those, how many other people respond, your number of friends, and a biggie is how many people you have referred (and how active they are). Sorry for the inelegant sentence, but it's late and I'm off to bed.

I think that most people think they are goiing to get rich on here. I personally don't think that it is about the money, I could be here for an hour and not even find anything to comment on. It shouldn't be like that. I think mylot should start eliminating these users who either continuously post these questions, or answer every question with either one word or something that doesn't make sense. It would eliminate people from getting tired or bored of searching for legitimate discussions to respond to. The concept of mylot is great, the control needs to be stepped up.

I agree totally. If you spent every waking hour posting you would go broke paying off your optical bills. I like the thought of a little fun money but the conversation is the biggest draw. I just wish there werent so many duldrums.Thank you for your reply.

I am absolutely in agreement. I have a lot to say. I like to start interesting discussions that do involve more than a word or two. Often, when the discussion is only meant to derive a word or two, I elaborate as much as possible.

Not only does it get boring reading message after message filled with responses that require no thought, but it can get fustrating. I like to find a discussion that has a good topic that will generate quality responses and can make others genuinely want to go back because you honestly want to participate in that discussion. After all does anyone really care how old everyone else is? Will anyone remember tomorrow? The discussions that are started with the intention of having good conversations are the ones that make MyLot worth signing on. :)

I completely agree with you,but maybe I am still a little green. I really like the discussions where you find out a bit about the other people that have answered and where you can share a bit of yourself with them as well. Because I type very fast I suppose for me it would not take long to write several paragraphs. I guess some people are just trying to make money from this, but although I can do with the money I dont think that even if I responded 24/7 it would actually be enough to keep living on. Therefore, I like to respond in as many words as necessary, and dont plan to answer in one or two words anymore ever

I agree...the questions where people want a yes or no answer or stupid questions like the ones you mentioned! I always give them a - ...... I don't know what that does but I do it! I don't see the point of starting a discussion when it's not really a discussion!

I find these a waste of time, and do not answer them anymore. I think it should be about Quality of posts, and answers, and not quantity. The ones that get me even more than this, is say Hi!! and I will give you a +.

LOL I am as well.. But the funny thing is...is that Mylot is trying to cut that down. They won't pay you for one word answers and such! So I guess it would be their loss! hahaha. Those people need to read the RULES! LOL When I first started on here, I loved it. but lately there are some lame questions on here.

I actually started a discussion quite similar to this. Another user told me that there would be points deducted, questions removed, and ultimately suspension if the same user kept answering with one words or sentences. I don't know true this is yet but I would like to see it implemented. I get really tired of weeding through questions about favorite colors or "AM I HOT" etc etc.

I have been a member here for a couple of days now and i must admit the first day i was here i saw so many of those one word answers required posts and by the end of the day i was honestly sick of it, But today i havent been on mylot as much but i havent seen as many of them as yesterday! Some people are just all about the money and think replying with one or two will actually get them lots of money!

Well its good to know that there are a few of us that believe in some substance. I dont mind a short answer but that is not what i believed this was all about.

I couldn't agree more. I not only want to earn money, but I want to have some great conversation about more serious things in life. And if people think that typing in the word "yes" or "My eyes are blue" are going to make a lot of money, they're wrong. Let's have some serious discussions, folks! :-)

Yes I have noticed that to I mean sometimes you can only answer that but even when you ask a question that requires more you still just get the one word and then it has nothing to do with the topic

i feel the same way too, when I was posting a serious topic for discusion and answered as yes or no, it does not satisfy me. It should be better if MyLot can do something on this kind of answer. What do you think?

I think mylot cares not. Otherwise these discussions would be monitored better.
