Do you like wrapping presents?

I used to love wrapping presents. I had lots of time and was so patient and did a great job... Now, I feel a bit more rushed and frustrated and don't like wrapping as much as I used to. I get lots of gift bags and use them, and wrap some, just to have a variety. What about you? DO you enjoy wrapping, does someone else do it, do you prefer gift bags, etc??

I do not enjoy wrapping gifts because no matter how much i try they look like crap when i get through w/them. Gift bags are wonderful & i save all mine & reuse them again. I normally don't buy them because they are expensive but i use all i have before i start wrapping.

Yes they are expensive, I try to re-use them whenever possible.

I don't mind wrapping gifts that are in square or rectangular packages. However, so many things (especially toys) are abnormal shapes and I'm really just no good at wrapping them. I guess I don't really mind wrapping, but I find that my husband is especially good at wrapping oddly shaped items. Also, he really likes wrapping gifts, so I find that as the years go by, he is doing more and more of our holiday wrapping.

True. If something is not a nice square or rectangular (AKA EASY) shape, I usually take a bunch of tissue paper in layers and wrap it around then fasten it with a tie around the top... OR a gift bag works better!

I myself love to wrap gifts. I especially enjoy putting the ribbons on, doing all the little tricks like making the curly ribbons, etc. I sometimes add candy canes or little christmas drums and such to the gifts. I do my gifts and then I go to my mothers and do hers! I must admit though, after the 25th gift or so, I do get a little bored and tired of it. But, the next day, I am ready to go at it again.

I still love to wrap my gifts. It gives a more personal touch. And I like to play tricks with my gifts like wrapping the small items with thicker wrappers or cloth to make it appear bigger. Or I'd place a card just underneath the wrapper and then the gift item. I usually do this with my nieces and nephews. It always amazes me how they giggled while opening their gifts and to see the anticipation in their innocent and yet excited faces is just priceless. :-)

That's a good idea. I have tried to disguise the shape or size of packages, but never hidden cards and such beneath the wrapping paper. Great idea, thanks! : )

I love wrapping gifts, especially if its for someone I truly like. The way I wrap the gift with care shows how much every detail of the gift matters to me. If you dont have time to wrap it well at least try to personalize the gift bags with something fun/personal to make it feel really special. Afterall true worth of the gift is not always in monetary terms, its about our feelings in material form

That's absolutely true and I do like wrapping a present here and there, but sometimes when you have 10 or 20 gifts to wrap or more during the holiday season it can become a little overwhelming.

I love wrapping presents. Unless I buy a present that is unusually shaped, I never use gift bags. I know I always enjoyed opening wrapped gifts, so that's probably why I like wrapping presents myself. I'm sure the people I buy for don't care, but it's a process I enjoy. Although I admit I don't enjoy it as much as I used to.

Nope, and I don't do it. Its too much of a hassle and people rip the paper off, its pretty annoying. Its like cleaning the house and then have a messy dog run through it with muddy feet. I use gift bags too, they can be used again and if somebody tears up the tissue paper I don't feel bad.

I don't really like to go shopping, nor I LIKE wrapping gifts. I don't have the heart for it, honestly. I rather watch movies, DVD, or play on my computer. Sometimes, I rather have my girl do it for me rather I would do it myself. Unless the present is for special someone of mine.

I hate wrapping. I REALLY hate wrapping odd shaped items. I still wrap more than I use bags though, because personally I love to UNWRAP items myself. Somehow it seems more fun than getting something in a gift bag.

Yes it's nice to unwrap but more convenient to use gift bags. I wrap about half the gifts and put the other half into bags. It can be a lot to wrap so many gifts for Christmas at one time, so... All in all I don't mind wrapping, per se, but when it's so many it gets overwhelming and tests one's patience! One or two gifts is nothing, but like 10, 20, 30 -- that's something else!

Yeah that's not too bad... I actually didn't buy too many gifts this year either as my finances are pretty pathetic at the moment, unfortunately, but I still have to wrap everythign as of yet!

Even this time of year I usually only get one or two gifts per person, and since I only have to get gifts for 5 or 6 people, as much as I hate wrapping its usually over with pretty quick. I guess if I had tons and tons of gifts to wrap I'd probably break down and use more bags.

I used to love wrapping presents too but know the season just isn't what it used to be for me, so its not as exciting. My daughter is starting to take on the role. Gift bags are great because they allow you to get done sooner and no sticky tape and ripped paper and bows that come apart. More recently it has become easier to gift money which I don't like because it seems so meaningless. My mother used to put wax on the paper and tape to seal the present so she knew if us kids had peeked. If we peeked she took the present back to the store and exchanged it for something else or not at all.

Hi! I'm not a big fan of wrapping presents as I don't like irregular shapes, so I do try and buy things that have straight lines (like a book) where necessary, or things in boxes, like perfume. Mum wants a rucksack so it's highly unlikely I will wrap that up as is once I buy one from a shop. I have also found over the years that cheap wrapping paper is stressful to use as it rips too easily for my liking! I like that shiny red stuff that I've not seen for years. So, no I don't like wrapping presents but you can bet your bottom dollar that I will end up wrapping presents Mum has bought (apart from mine lol) when I go there for Christmas. Happens every year!

Oh, I used to as well. My mother would have me wrap her gifts because I loved it so much. Well, I now understand why she passed it on to me! LOL You do get tired of it after years of gift wrapping. That's why I just love the gift bags!! They are pretty and convenient and keep gifts just as out of sight as wrapping does. When I am shipping gifts, though, I do wrap them before putting them in the shipping box.

Some presents just do better in gift bags, like soft presents that could be made out if they are wrapped, or those two big for a box but too obvious for just wrapping them. I don't like the cutting of the paper, but the other is fun, though admittedly, my wrapping skills could you some work!

Hello my friend Bethany1202 Ji, WEll, I learntfrom my hubby all this, I remember, during a train journey involving over-night, he will carry hanger as well, while he changes into night dress, he wans, everything perfectly done. H ewill make verything in presentable fashon. H ewill insert a Gift tag befor wrapping and even after thatin most proper way, high-light with different sketch pens with border all around. He is very fond of doing all this in most scientific ways. Wishing you a very happy New Year-2010. May God bless You and have a great time.

i'd rather wrap presents than put them in gift bags. it lets my creativity get going and also it's a lot cheaper that way, sure i enjoy giving gifts as much as receiving them. especially with little kids, you can just see the pure excitement in their eyes when they get something they really like. oh well happy holidays to u!

I have never really liked wrapping presents, I try to do it the best I can but for the most part unless it is a box shaped gift my wrapping looks more like a glob than a gift. For the most part it is a quick birthday gift I too will just end up buying a bag and some gift wrap but for things like Christmas items I will using wrapping paper just because that is one of the fun things about Christmas is ripping off the wrapping paper plus if my kids decide that they don't believe and want to try and find their gifts i think it betters the chances of not finding out what it is if it is wrapped and not just in a bag covered by gift tissue.

I love wrapping presents and it usually doesn't matter what occasion it is as long as presents are given. I love gift wrapping because it makes you decide on things like what gift wrap to use, color, texture, and ribbon to ornament the gift. Its even exciting deciding what style of gift wrapping you'll use, for example - do you make it shape like a bag or do you need a box befor wrapping it? It's fun actually especially when you use your creativity and imagination...and most importantly is the thought on how your present will be trully adored and remembered by someone. Happy mylotting.
