I bought my first computer in 1995 or so. That was not a full fledged pc but basic things were there in it. My son was using it and learning basics. I did not know anything about the computer then. It is still there with some repairs. Then in 2005 I bought this pc and I am very happy about this.

My father got us our first computer in 1984, i'll never forget it, it was a tandy 1000 from radio shack. It lasted at least 10 years until i broke it some how, you couldn't use it for the internet or anything like that, it was just for the old ms-dos.

My first computer was bought in 2003 and now it is useless. I have no idea how to deal with it and still keep it in my laptop bag.

Well, you see, computers had not yet been invented when I was your age and then at first you know they used punch cards and took up a whole room and could only do very basic things. So I see all of this technology from a completely different perspective.

Wow memories there... My first computer might have been a Commadore64, and ironically I still have the monitor from it, sitting in the store room right behind me as I speak. That computer was simply for playing computer games and never anything else. But my first PC, first Intel computer, was a really old Compaq Portable. If you look on Wikipedia at Compaq, you'll see a picture of one. It didn't have a hard drive, nor a 3.5 floppy drive, and the screen was green. So I disassembled the thing, and connected a 3.5 floppy, a color VGA card, and a hard drive, and connected a color monitor. Of course that case didn't have any way of holding all that, so I had the mother board, the drives, the cards, and power supply all sitting on top of the desk in open air. It worked perfectly, but slow, and even connected to the internet in the early 90s over a cheap 4800 baud modem. I honestly can't remember if it was an 8086, or the 8088 Processor. If you don't know, before the 386, was the 286 and then the 8088 and 8086 processors. But it ran it 4.77 Mhz, had 640K of memory tops, and came with 2 5.25" Floppy drives, which I instantly pitched. It was supposed to be portable, and weighted 28 lbs. Sold for $3,590 in 1983. Shocking eh?

Dear myLotter friend. I learned computing in 1996 at a local center. The PC was a 486 CPU 55 Mhz, 504 MB of HDD, 8 MB of RAM, 1.44 MB of FDD and without any CD-ROM Drive working with DOS based windows 3.11. Whenever I got any chance, after my lesson time, I used to play different DOS based games on that PC. It was so much fun the day I first won the game (Paranoid) that is beyond description. Since the day I completed my course, I had been dying to have a PC of my own. But my financial crisis was the main obstacle to fulfill my dream. By this times I had many chances to use others' PC to work with and to play games. And after 11 years of that in 2007 I finally was able to have my first PC. This is a Intel Dual Core 2.88 Ghz CPU with 160 MB of HDD, 1 GB of RAM and a DVD writer. Now I'm so happy to be a owner of a PC.

Well my first computer was a Commodore Amiga 500 and it wasn't even connected to the Internet because it wasn't powerful enough to download webpages. It didn't even have a hard drive, but I used floppies. That was a long time ago! I did later fit a hard drive to it, and instead of waiting for it to boot from floppies it would take about 2 minutes to boot from hard drive. I used it mostly for doing video editing, but it was very slow, and writing for my writing class. My first PC on the Internet was a Gateway on dial-up, but that was only good enough for viewing webpages with text only as the graphics would take an age to download, and quite often I would lost my connection. What a difference now. - Derek

In my mind my first touch of computer was happened when I was 10 years old. No windows but Dos. The black background and white character. All is excited for us. But at that age we all don't know how to use it except our teacher.

My mistake is I only use the computer for a year because I wrong to put the jumper then I burn the computer. I think it was in 1998, I don't remember exactly when.

Hi, my first computer was bought in 2000. I was about 13 year old then. It was 2.4 GHz P4, 256 MB ram and and 40 GB hard drive(now upgraded to 120 GB. It also had and external graphic memory of 64 MB. I used to play many games in that and I learned many things about computers using that comp. It is still there in my home and it still works. Even now I play many movies in that because it has a 5.1 sound card and speakers with it.

Hi as for as my 1st computer is concerned I was not blessed. I remember we bought it when I was 14 yrs old. Until then Computer is a great world wonder for me. But I dint enjoy the computer. It had 2 yr warranty. But right from the 7th month of purchase it troubled like anything. We changed everything except hard disk. RAM,Mother board, CD drive etc. We closed the floppy drive permanently. USB was not much prevalent that time. We spent half the amount of our purchase for replacing itself. We dont know why we had that much trouble. But I learned some hardware works from it. And after replacing all parts It worked for 17 months. That is it. But we again purchased a compaq presario system. It also created some troubles from 7th month of purchase. But dint make us to spend so much. We replaced one part and till now functions good. But I will never forget the tensions created by that 1st system. For us it was research mouse to learn hardware.

I started my first PC when I was in my early teens. My father working abroad bought me an Atari PC game. It was basically a gaming console but it had a keyboard attached in it and you can do simple basic programming language. I learned from there to program small and simple basic programming. After which my father bought a much newer PC and a real one after a year. It started with DOS program and was really fast during those times. Windows was just starting to peak up and I preferred using DOS since its mucgh simpler to use then. Then after a while the Windows started to become popular when the 386 and 486 processors become available.

I got my first pc when I was fourteen about nine years ago. It was a Pentium I based PC and the harddrive was just 1GB. It has Windows 98 OS and I can only use it for typing and listening to music, when I think about it now it wasn't that bad, really. but at that time I really hate my pc. My 2nd pc came in 2005 a better one of course, I keep my old PC till two years ago till finally I give it for my elementary school cousin.
