So, do you hang the Christmas lights outside of your house yet? And do you do the Christmas gift shopping yet? What about the Christmas tree?
Honestly, I didn't do any of these, because my budget is tight, and I simply don't have that much money to do all these yet. I have to wait until I am get back on my feet. So, nothing for me this Christmas. No decorating, no Christmas tree whatsoever. I just pass a humble Christmas this year.

Yes... My family goes all out for Christmas. We decorate all the common areas and outside. To me it doesn't feel like Christmas with out all the decor. I love setting it up every year!

We used to decorate outside years ago but it became too much trouble. Inside the house, the spirit of Christmas still lives. A tree and various holiday decorations. Also, Christmas music playing on the radio. Christmas shopping has been done for quite some time. This year seems like it went by quickly, it just doesn't seem like Christmas is approaching. Perhaps as the day comes, it will feel like it but as it approaches nearer, it just caught me off guard that Christmas is actually so close.

Don't feel too bad. I haven't done any of those things either. There isn't the money for anything like that. Hence another depressing christmas. But I guess there are a lot of people out there in the same boat. So your not alone.

I live with my dad and I'm 19, so we haven't decorated the house or gotten a tree in a few years. But this year we got a little fake tree, and put a few decorations up, so hopefully it will feel like Christmas!

Usually I had a little tree that went up already decorated and came back down and stayed decorated. It was just a little tree. That was basically all I did when I lived in my appartment. I bought some little presents, but nothing too fancy. This year was different. I moved into my fiance's house and we put up christmas lights and a huge tree and I went hog wild on presents. He has a lil one and I got a job that actually paid decent (as long as I kept my other one) so I was able to go a little more crazy this year. The hope is that I would be able to keep doing it this every year, but I set my standards high! But I would enjoy doing that with only one job, not two.

sadly, not on this christmas season. my wife started with her work in singapore recently and was not allowed for a christmas vacation. so as not to feel the loneliness on christmas, id rather not decorate the house with it. although we will stay online on both christmas eve and new years eve just to somehow feel her presence.

I agree with you. I'm not decorating this year and I didn't decorate last year. I used to spend days decorating, my husband would put up lights outside, we decorated anything that would stay still long enough to hang something on it. Then it would take days un-decorating -- too much work and too much electricity. I've decided that the work isn't worth it and the reason for Christmas is forgotten with all the glitter, I'd rather remember why we celebrate Christmas.

Even though things are as bad as they could get this year, I have decorated for Christmas. My tree goes up (it's fake, because I'm allergic to the real ones) on Thanksgiving Weekend. This year was a special treat as my Fiance's Son spent Thanksgiving Weekend with us and we all decorated together. I was not going to do lights outside (I only hang them from the upstairs balcony of my Condo) but I did it the other night. I decided this economy was not going to get me completely down and wanted to be festive. I also do 2 trees in my house. One with my own ornament collection that I have collected over the last 25 years and one with my Mother's ornament collection from childhood. My tree is in the livingroom downstairs and my Mother's stuff is upstairs in the small Bonus Room. As far as gifts are concerned, it is going to be very, very lite this year with some possible IOU's. Only shopping for the kids and the older ones are getting gift cards.
For me Christmas is most importantly about being with your family/firends and secondly being festive. I learned this many years ago when I was stuck in San Francisco by myself for Christmas because I did not have the money to fly back to the East Coast. It was the worst Christmas I ever had. I made a commitment that I would make it home the next year, even if all the money I could save up was for a plane fare. They were quite happy that my "presence" at Christmas was their "present." And for me the feeling was mutual, being in their "presence" was my "present." Family and friends are the best gift during the Holidays and it is one that just gives and gives through out you life.

Hello clorissa123 this is checkmail and me too never had decorate my house for the christmas eve, but still celebrated it well.Am still thinking of it to do.Actually i used to celebrate the christmas with some of mine friends in our compound, where we used to set an chritmas tree with decoration on it and lighting too.Later on eve of christmas have some music, dance, snacks, softdrinks, etc to celebrate the christmas. We all used to contribute an equal sum for this celebration and was easy to afford it.But now as grown up gave an break to chritmas celebration in our compound and hope the other childrens do continue the tradition forward.Anyways Enjoy the christmas eve and happy mylotting.

I usually do but we have down played this year. Not only is money tight but we will be at family's Christmas so there is no need of a tree. The kids know we will have one else where and are ok with this. I did put up some decorations that I already had but no lights, nothing that will cost us more money in the long run.

I am a Christian. Every year I set up a plastic Christmas tree that I bought about ten
years ago. It is environment friendly as no trees were chopped down. Besides, it is much cheaper, as I can use year after year. I use the same decorations years after years.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Well, I don't really do much except put up and decorate a tree. A $20.00 Day after Thanksgiving fake 6ft douglas fir tree bought at Big Lots 8 years ago when I could not afford presents or ornaments, but tried to have a little Christmas for the kids.
Now, when I put up that tree, I remember the struggles of finances and the love we all shared back then and even though times were hard and are hard, I know we will be OK. Our tree is a symbol of life, love, family and strength - it is not about toys and electronics.
Merry Christmas and may your New Year be filled with love and the burdens be eased.

I feel for you clorissa, for I am in the same situation. I normally decorate and go all out for Christmas but where as it is only me and my boyfriend, there is not any children around any more to decorate for. So we simply do not do it. We go over our parents house and spend Christmas there. I am very much still into the Christmas spirit but if you were to come over to my apartment you would think I am a Scooge, where I do not have any decorations up.

We do quite a bit of Christmas decorating. This year my daughter did all the lights, both outside and inside. She did a remarkable job with the outside lights.
She set up 6 diffrent settings of lights.
Two of them are reindeer statues. There is a large net like covering over a big shrub.
There is a set of lights hanging over the archway. There is another hanging set like icicles froma large tree branch.
Inside the house we have lights on the Christmas tree, a lit star on top, a set of brightly coloured lights over the doorway, and a Santa light picture in a front bedroon window.
Wish I had a photo of them.

I love to decorate for Christmas. I always have. Decorating does not have to be extravagant. Sometimes the simple touches bring us the greatest joy.

For me I don't decorate Christmas tree because I don't celebrate it I'm one of Jehovah's witnesses that's the pagan attitude that's not good to Jehovah GOD.

The Christmas tree is brought out which is decorated with old decorations and a few new ones added. There will be the star put up and also a crib. The house will be cleaned and if it is time for the upholstery to be changed it is normally done at this time. I have invited some orphans(this there will be 80 of them) which I do sometimes and expect it to be a grand christmas.

Hello clorissa123. I always feel happiness everytime I put on some decorations for christmas. Just like you, I am also in a budget nowadays. I guess you can still buy some Christmas lights and decors for just a cheap price. I bought Christmas lights last week for only less than a hundred pesos but it was already beautiful. I didn't buy Christmas tree because it's very expensive but I am already contented with the decorations I have at home now. And, talking about Christmas gift, I actually just got home now from the department store to buy a present for my boyfriend and for myself as well. It was tiring but I had so much fun. I hope you'll be able to enjoy your Christmas even without these things. Merry Christmas

Christmas is not very popular for most people in China, espacially for the old. Howevere, our young people always have our fun on Christmas. But this year, this is a little difficult for us to celebrate on Christmas, because we have an important exam just after the Christmas Day! What a pity! Anyway, wishes all of my friends Happy Christmas Day !
