is it good to publish our photos in social networks?

hey i am a member of some social networks. But i hesitate to pub my photo in my profile as i am scared of any cyber crimes. i hv heard of news like taking a photos from a site and pastign in bad sites and advertising that this girl is a sexy and is ready for time any day etc. my friend's neighbour's relative has faced this problem. suggest it is good to pub my photo in this social networks

I publish my photos,but I set the privacy so not everyone can view it.I set where only my friends can look at my photos.If you can't set the privacy,then I definately would not publish any photos on these social sites.I have to say for my profile photo I never use one of me.Here,this is a photo of my dog which can be anyone.
