Do you or did you use spanking as a form of discipline for your children? If not, do you consider it abuse as some do?

My children are grown & too big to spank now altho i see times when i think they need one, lol. I did spank my children when they were growing up, not alot but sometime u have to get their attention & make a believer out of them. I did not consider it abuse i considerd it as what they needed for misbehaving in a bad way.

I strongly Don't belive in spanking as a form of punishment. Spanking teaches nothing except that it is perfectly acceptable to resolve your anger at any situation with shouting, or some other volinte act. Vilance is no way to resolve a conflict. Children don't ever learn anything from it. If anything they either become shells of themselves afraid to do anything because of the above result, or they start to mitate parents and use slapping and hitting and other forms to resolve their anger. The cycle continues.

There are time when i do spank my son as he gets really troublesome at times and would refuse to listen to if said politely. At times like that a spank works wonders. Usually i donot like to resort to spanking as it makes my sone stubborn, if i spank hin there are time when he gets stubborn and would not listen too, so in time like this talking to him works for me!!

yes!I use to spank my kids when they badly need it to be.They do some miscief, behave wrongly, don't obey,etc.....and words are not enough to control them. They don't mind your shouting and then spanking is the only choice left before. But I don't do it brutaly.Just a single spank to warn them that that is the limit.i don't call it abuse.
