i find that there are a lot of discussions about what people like the most when it comes to Christmas. i know we celebrate Christ's birth but i am sure that for many people there are things that they dont like about the holidays. for me, its the commercialism (see my ebay discussion from an earlier date); while i dont mind shopping, i dislike the crowds; i also dislike wrapping presents. if i could find a little elf that would do that for me, it would make me happy! what about you?

I don't like the holidays because it's not about spending time with family anymore, it's about money and who can make the most for businesses and for everyone else, it's about who can get the better gifts for the kids. It's nothing but a big competion on who can look better, especially around Christmas time.

Hi ladymetal80! I salute you big time on this one! I feel that Christmas is all about impressing others and having a form of competition. This is when it gets boring to me!

Its my family, they drive me nuts. I would rather see a select few and forget the rest. I don't like the commercialization either, in fact if I didn't have to buy things to make my kids believe in Santa I wouldn't. But, its fun to have them get into the spirit of Christmas. We know the true meaning so its all good.

Personally it's the anticlimax of it all! It's all the build up, from mid October it starts and throughout November and you hear Christmas, see Christmas everywhere, on television it's thrown down your throats and in the stores, it's all about commercialism as you said, the true meaning has gone. It's all money orientated and for what? Just two days and then it's here and gone in a blink of an eye, all that planning, build up and expense! When I worked in a supermarket I used to see families stock on on food trolley loads of food as though there was going to be a major crisis or something, the shop was only closed for two days and then you'd see the same people come back and restock! Where does all that food go? We buy too much, we eat too much, we drink too much and this is called Christmas? Bah humbug LOL! Sorry but Christmas is all about MONEY sadly.

You're right - what I dislike most is how it's become this excuse to party, get drunk, make merry etc without a thought for why Christmas is celebrated in the first place. The shops and retailers just cash in on the season, and offer sales when they know people need to buy gifts, some obligatory and thus not quite from the heart at all... so that part is also something I don't like. feeling obliged to get gifts. and the crowds that come with the mindless purchasing... like we are all automatons programmed to spend spend spend once december arrives. the crowds make me feel suffocated. ok enough negativity. just a note to say I like wrapping gifts though! I don't mind being that little elf. haha.

I dislike what most people turn into during the winter holidays. I have sincerely come to avoid all dealings with this time of year.

I've come to dislike both the commercialism and the pressure. When I was younger, I had to give 2 Christmas dinners every year -- one for my husband's family and one for mine. Working, taking care of two children, and all the things that go along with those duties pretty much filled my time, so I really had to push to get everything ready for Christmas. My husband never hung an ornament or even shopped for a gift. Over the years, I grew to dislike the season more and more. None of my step kids or my own kids ever volunteered to reciprocate and invite us to their homes, I was buying gifts for step-grandchildren I didn't even know, and I pretty much became an old Scrooge.

I dislike the cold and the snow, here in montreal, I think I would like it much better in a warmer climate where I would be able to move around as I would want to. I often decline from going to lots of places over the years because I was not able to get out of the house because I am disabled and the cold hurts my bones.

Hi, cher913. I dislike it when people go out their way to buy expensive gifts just to impress others. I don't care how much money they spent on someone. It is like a competition kind of thing. I dislike it when people who hated you before Christmas, is all of a suddenly treating you better on this day. And then once this holiday is all over with, then they go back to being their old and nasty self. I dislike it when I have to buy someone a gift and if they don't like it, then I get the funny look. People look at how much you spent on the gift rather the thought and consideration that you put into buying it for them. These are the things that I like least about the holidays.

I love the holidays, the shopping, the wrapping of gifts and most of all the decorations and the Christmas songs everywhere but what I don't like is after the holidays, plenty of work lols, cleaning, keeping the decorations, and lots of work after the long vacation.

'What I like less about holidays ( and it's not only Christmas) is that... they are always coming to an end :) I know it always happened and it will always happen...but... I don't hate this fact... I like it less. ' That was what a 6 yo kid have answered after I asked him your question. Kids are very deep inside. We should learn from them more often :)

I really hate all of the fatty, tempting foods that are around. It's so hard to say no. Also I really don't enjoy the stress of the holidays, having to worry about buying everyone the perfect gift. I hate shopping during the holidays, everyones always in a frenzy and panic. Parking is ridiculous. Drunk driving seems to also go up around the holidays as everyone is getting liquored. I hate how cold it gets too. It's freezing out lately.

Well, what I like least about the holidays is that both in school and at work we see less people we like, friends ... But I did not study more... then it is not so much a problem ... And most of the friends I have not any of these places, are riends who I know as I was out there. But still, I see little vacation, because many of them travel, or spend the holidays with family, etc.. I myself just passing most of the holiday with the family on vacation ... And not always think it's good. I really like is to go out, meet new people, traveling, and have fun with friends. Another thing I do not like holidays that is just getting fat .. Coming out in restaurants and asking for pizza's, etc. ... And that's not good heuheauaehuaeeauaheu.

What i least like about the holidays is taking down decorations and repacking them for next year. Then one has to store them and put the house back in order. Its a big let down after all the fun leading up to and through the holiday.

Hello! I love Christmas, but I don't like spending so much money on them. This year we will not buy presents because we have a really hard crises and we just cannot afford presents this year. We will have a small dinner with family and that's it...

Im with you on the wrapping problem lol I hate wrapping! I enjoy the shopping and all the magical parts of Christmas for the kids like baking cookies and waiting for Santa to come but wrapping is horrible! Also i hate not having enough money to do all the things i would like to do for people. If i was rich i would focus on making other peoples Christmas brighter that may not be able to afford Christmas.

There's nothing I don't like about the holidays. Oh wait, there's one. Ahmm.. hehehe... I hate it when I can't eat the foods and beverages that I want to consume. Do you know why? Because I'm always full during the holidays. And I can't take in all of the food all in one sitting.lol
