To rice or not to rice?

I want to remove the extra bulge on my tummy and exercise is not in my list because I do not have the time to do it. My friends suggested to have no rice diet for two months. I tried this for the last 2 days and I did not felt good, I was irritable and felt hungry. Will this rice craving go away after few more days?

Hi, you just cannot avoid eating rice immediately as your cravings will only increase more. You have to decrease the amount slowly and replace with fruits or vegetable salads and so on.

You could try to eat a little brown rice and bread with fibres. Proteins and fats makes you not feel so hungry and so do nuts and seeds.
The idea is to lower the fast carbs, like white flour, sugar, white rice and so on. I often start the breakfast with a little fruit, then after a while eat one or two eggs and a little cheese. After that full grain cereals with fibres and a little dried fruit for the taste - all this with yogurt or some kind of sour milk...
Exercise can be done in a few minutes before you get out of bed. I often do some stretching and since I eat cold pressed oils and seed, it gives my cells good fats and make them function better. That helps the metabolism too and helps to get rid of extra fat.

I love eating rice also I tried also not to eat rice but I can't survive I always feel hungry and I'm not satisfied. I think what you can do is cut down your rice and exercise. You can find time to exercise at your work like walking or use the stairs instead elevator. Just simple physical activity will do.

To start with there are certain food that cause belly fat. They are fried foods, sugary foods, too much salt, foods prepared with refined white flour. Limit foods with red meat, cream, and butter, They are saturated fats. Our body needs fats so eat more fish, olive oil, avocado, and walnuts. Apples, tea, chocolate, broad beans, onions, leeks, and sweet pepper are supposed to help get rid of belly fat.
If your eating white rice change it to brown rice. It will be more nutritious and more filling with less of it. I like it because it has a nice nutty taste too.

I would think it would be better to cut out bread than rice. A friend of mine who eats a lot of bread has lost 28lbs in two months, by cutting right down on bread and eating smaller portions of main meals. Try brown rice - there's more fibre in it, which helps digestion.

Perhaps I'll try brown rice. I'm Asian and it is staple in our meals to have rice. Also eating in small portions I think can help me.

Try to avoid all white food (rice, potatoes, bread, etc.,) Substitute with whole grain breads, wild rice, and so on to lesson up the cravings somewhat.
Losing weight (or the bulge) is going to be darn near impossible without exercise though, but I do wish you luck on your quest.

I really don't think rice is all that bad for you, there are so many other foods that are worse. Rice is pretty empty of fats and gives lots of protein. To lose weight, you need to do some exercise, it's really the only way. You need to burn more calories then you are taking in, to burn calories you need to do stuff. Sorry there is no shortcut.

Well, It is really very difficult to suddenly leave something you have always been so fond of. I love rice, too. When I was in West Bengal, I used to have rice almost everyday. When my mom did not prepare rice, I used to be angry and refused to eat anything. But now I have learned to stay away from the things that I cherish. It is one of the things my bad time has taught me. I think this craving of yours will go away in a few days if you have good determination. When you feel like eating rice just think that it is poisonous and think of all the things that happen when someone takes poison.
