Do you put up winter decorations, or just Christmas decorations? Or none at all?

I was looking at my apartment and thinking about my Christmas decorations. A couple decorations caught my eye because they are winter decorations, and not specifically Christmas. So when I take down my Christmas decorations, I'll still have a few "snow people" around my apartment. Do you put up just Christmas decorations? Or are some winter ones still hanging around after the holidays? Or is there someone out there who absolutely never puts one single thing that could be called a decoration up around their house, inside or out this time of the year?

As I keep all my Christmas Decorations up until Jan 6th, Twelfth day of Christmas (Epiphany) I am ready to take them down until next year.

When my daughter was little - 3yrs, I felt like a heel always telling her to look but don't touch those beautiful things! so the next year I made a tree she could touch! So I got a 3 foot artifical tree and decorated it with plastic and wooden ornaments. Every morning the first thing she'd do when she got up was go re-arrange the ornaments! She had so much fun and was so attached to it and never missed a morning, so just left it up until she lost interest...that was in February!!!

My house is small but as we are in the tropics I only out up my Christmas Angels and some Red Santa boxes. It would seem odd to have lots of fake snow around the place. I do have a Christmas Tree though and the gifts are placed beneath the tree. I have live orchids as plants in my house and lots of hanging baskets and plants outside. My angels and Santa's are put away each year.

You would be surprised to see how many people put up snowy scenes out here - really amazing. If I was in a cold country I would have to have some greenery around me!

Yes I have some that are just winter and I leave out till Spring, same as the fall flowers that I have out when it comes Fall and leave till after Thanksgiving, I know one person that never puts out much when it comes to the holidays, and I feel sad for this person, this year she put up her tree,or a tree that the neighbors got her, and she never put one decoration on it, not a single light, it just sits there. How can you enjoy the holidays if you don't decorate, I think that is part of the joy of it being the holidays, and changing the what knots or pictures or flowers as the seasons change. I love decorating for the holidays no matter which one it is.

A winter decoration is something that has no Christmas aspect. A wreath isn't always Christmas related, snowmen figurines certainly aren't tied directly to Christmas, snowflake decorations, sledding children, or in my case sledding snowmen figurines...

I am a bad girl, i have not put up one piece of decoration. I have a friend that laughing calls me scrooge because she puts up everything, inside & out. I laugh at her when she has to take it all down.

Hey Ambie! I used to always put up my Christmas decorations
right after Thanksgiving. I don't know what's been happening
to me the last few years. It's 2 days before Christmas and I
haven't even put up my little 2 foot tree! I have always put
up a 6 foot tree until about 5 years ago when I got my two
cats that I have now because they are very wild and love
to climb so I stopped putting that one up and started with
just a tiny tree! I have other ornaments and stuff that I
decorate the house with, but this year I haven't even done
that. I think it's because of my depression and the fact
that I have had all this trouble with the Disability and
Medicaid and stopped seeing my Therapist and stuff. I am
going to try to put the tree up tomorrow, but as for the
other stuff, I just don't know if I am up to it this year,
and that's so not like me!

You know Amber, that has to be the sweetest thing that anyone
has said to me! My friends that are here just really do annoy
the crap out of me! You are more than welcome to come and stay
for as long as you'd like! You'd just have to put up with me,
the bf and the two kittys! But, for real you always have an open
invitation and I mean that straight from my heart! Love ya, Leslie

I have a miserable little holly wreath on my door. cost me S$2 from the 'dollar store'. but i like it! it adds a little festive cheer to my home.
however, one of the adhesives has come apart and now it hands a little jauntily askew. and i've tried but can't make it stick! oh well, we delight in the little imperfections.
also, i never knew there were differences between winter decor and christmas decor! i just lumped the snow and trees and holly etc all together. :)

I love to decorate like the North Pole but have given way to better sense and old age (Ha!). I now decorate sparsely and drive to neighorhoods who still get all decked out for the season when I want to have that magical, starlight experience. Putting up decorations are for the young and energic, the old and wiser just enjoy the fruits of their labor.

I haven't felt all that "Christmasy" for years and after years and years of moves, I am not even sure where my decorations are, or if I still have any. I have a few things hanging on my door that I found in my car from my mom's house, but beyond that, I have nothing at all up. But, we got so much snow over the weekend, I can honestly say "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go."

I love putting decorations at christmas. Since from our very small days when our parents used to make a bid "do" about decorating the christmas tree, we have carried the tradition. I am alone now and I still get a nice feeling when I decorate the tree with whatever ornaments remaining. I try not buy new ones every year becoz they are so expensive. I put on some christmas carols and decorate the tree and feel happy when I do it and all the time, I think back to those lovely christmases with my parents and siblings and those warm memories sometimes bring tears to my eyes and in my heart I say "thank you" mom and dad for all the lovely things you brought into our lives.

I never put decoration on my home. I like to keep it simple but nice all the year, and I don't make any difference by the end of the year. I'm not too fond of buying lots of decorating stuff that you will have to store in a box for a full year again.

Me and my family like to hang holly boughs and laurel boughs on all our door ways. We also hang long chains of metallic beads, there really pretty. We have all kinds of old Christmas decorations all of the kids have made over the year, it's a trip down memory lane seeing all of those. We have a really unique Christmas tree this year, since my mom hates killing trees so we just took this awesome piece of wood that's all twisted with branches and strung it with Christmas lights and hung decorations all over it. Last year we decorated a Banzai tree, and the year before that a cactus. We have fun mixing it up.

We have decorations that could be considered winter decorations and others that are clearly Christmas decorations. Truthfully, my husband and I are a bit behind the ball this holiday season and haven't really decorated yet. We did get a tree on Saturday. It is a super tiny, Charlie Brown type tree. It is the most adorable tree ever. Enjoy the holidays.

I am tipping it near 500 snowmen but this year I just put out two. When I went to put up the decorations I just about cried....I had so much to do besides the decorating that it was overwhelming.....so....I did all new decorations. I got a new tree last year on clearance...and I did it in red and gold..anyway....two little snowmen can stay out after Christmas....so they are winter decorations...I would leave my tree up for most of the year if people didn't think I was totally weird! LOL

Hi there again, well, my son put up the last stuff of christmas decorations for me yesterday, as I did spend the hole day at work. I have so many stuff to put up. But this year I did not put up all of it. Since I am working most of the holiday and spend more time at work then at home, I only put up the most important stuff. We have the tree, santa claus and some curtains...and it is enough.

I like to decorate my house for Christmas. I love the multicolored lights. It to me brightens up the house and your spirit. I don't take everything down when Christmas is over because I like to see some decorations still left up. Sometimes I even leave my lights up. Some people like to leave there lights up all year round.

I have a few lights that could be classed as winter decorations and not just Christmas ones. These are quite often left up after the Christmas decorations have all been taken down.
My favourite one is a garland of red berries and twigs with small red lights. I hang these across the fireplace and they have a nice wintery look to them that fits in with the decor of the house and actually warm it up. I always leave these up for longer as I hate how empty and cold the house looks once all the decroations have been removed.
