My third week...

I am on my third week straight of being sick. I've been coughing a lot, stuffy nose, headaches on and off...all the good ol' flu symptoms.
I've been taking medicine, eating fruit, drinking juice, drinking water...and nothing seems to help!
About a week after being sick I thought I was getting better, but then it just got worse! Ugh!
Any other tips to help me get better? *Please don't say see a doctor...my dad is one and he would say if he thought I needed to or not!* :P

I don't have any device. I have been to the doctor 2 times this week. I am feeling the same way. He thought I was headed for pneumonia, but not now, he thinks it is all a head cold just draining into my chest. Whatever, I just would like to feel better too. I wish I had some good advice.

that's really a bad news to hear about and wish you can feel better today and just drink more wather and do some exercise daily . that will be helpful to your health and walk aound outside to smell fresh air. do not eat too much oiled meat or other fried food.good luck.

Thank you! :)
I usually bring a full water bottle to bed with me, but I forget to bring it down with me in the morning to keep in the fridge so it's cold the next night! lol
I really wanted to start exercising since I quit my job...I wanted to lose at least 10 pounds before school starts...but I never feel like doing much because I'm sick! X.X But I guess I could walk to the mail box and take my old dog for a short walk, she can never go long either.

Are you getting a good night's sleep? I take tylenol PM so I can sleep. Sounds like you're doing everything right. But if you're not resting enough, that can make things linger forever. So during this holiday season, try to rest (I know, ridiculous, right?)

lol! I actually am sleeping pretty well. I'm not setting my alarm clock right now, so I sleep as long as my body needs to. I only get up when I know I won't be able to fall back asleep. I take NiQuil to help me fall asleep, but it still takes a while because my coughing and stuffy nose keep me up.

I love having aloe vera on my face, it's just so cool and it makes my skin soft! lol But it's just so messy I don't like wearing it at night because I don't want it to get all over my "pillow."
NiQuil usually works for me, I just take it whenever (in the evening) and go to bed when I start getting tired lol
Thank you! :)

Does our dad know how long you've been sick? 3 weeks is a long time. It sounds like you have swine flu. There is nothing you can do for the flu. No cure. Someone to bring a nice hot cup of tea helps, but it doesn't cure anything. You have to stay warm, drink, rest and wait it out. Just be sure it doesn't turn into pneumonia.

Yeah, my dad knows I've been sick a long time--he has to listen to my coughing and sniffling whenever he's home hehe.
I can't imagine this is swine flu because I would expect to feel a lot worse if it was.
I am staying warm and getting lots of rest! :) And I'm drinking lots of fluids too (tea, water, juice).

I am staying as warm as I can! :D Right now I'm wearing jeans, a sweater over shirt, a scarf and socks lol. I'll put gloves on when I'm done on computer too :P
Thanks Cat!

It sucks you don't have insurance. Just stay warm and hydrated. Hopefully your family is taking good care of you. Try to eat a bit too. Juice is food, but some rice or pasta or oatmeal will be good for your tummy.

HI LILY.Please admit yourself in a hospital because you are sick for three weeks right?I am not underestimating your dad as a doctor, but,i just feel you have to be admitted in a hospital because you need to undergo laboratory tests. If the results are all negative, then, I think it's all bec.of your weather.Do have a full body massage to soothen your muscles. This, I believe, will relieve you from your sickness.

Well even if I wanted to I couldn't go to the hospital because I don't have health insurance and there's no way I can afford all the tests and everything else I'd be charged with.
It's winter, I'm sure tons of peoples are getting colds around this time. It's expected with the season.

Hehe I am trying to rest as much as I can. I get good sleep at night, but I've been pretty active during the day this week.
Thank you

hi Lilyofthethorns I bet your dad sAid drink lots of water, and juice and take tylenol or something similar and also did he not say to rest, bet you havent been doing that. rest is one of the things that helps your body fight the flu bug you know. I bet you did not get your flu shot either? oh one tip and it works for me, good old fashioned chicken noodle soup. hot and good, eat it and it will make you feel a lot better, trust me.

My dad didn't need to tell me to drink lots of water and juice :P Actually...I believe what he said was, "who drank my orange juice!?!" lol :P
I take NyQuil and DayQuil. And I'll take Ibuprofen if I have a headache, but thankfully those aren't constant like my coughing and stuffy nose.
I actually had a lot of Christmas shopping on Saturday...but I haven't been very busy other than that. I don't set my alarm clock, so I'm getting all the sleep I need. If I wake up in the middle of the night I just sleep a little later. I only get up when my body says it's had enough sleep lol.
I just bought Noodle Soup! I'll have to have some of that tomorrow! :D
Thank you!

I've never had any problems like that before, and I'm not sure I could say I'm in enough pain to have an infection (I'm just assuming the things you said would be painful!) lol

Yeah, the back of my throat is really starting to get sore because I'm coughing so much. :/ But cold drinks really soothe it, but only while I'm drinking them.
Thanks!

I used to get sick and the cold would last forever. I've learned what it takes to get rid of one quicker.First eating right and getting all your vitamins and minerals help.I usually start drinking pitchers of orange juice everyday. Viruses do not lika an acid host. Get lots of rest. Don't run a marathon fighting a cold.If your nose runs, let it run. Your nose runs because your body is trying to purge the virus from you. Cough it up and get it out. Lastly get hot. You don't catch many cold during the summer because viruses don't like heat. I get under the shower and get the water as hot as I can stand it. Heat will help get rid of the cold. Keep the house hot and you hot.Rarely will I keep a cold longer than 7 days.

When I take showers they are always really hot! I can't take cold showers lol. And I'm always in warm clothes...so I'm staying warm. :)
I've actually just started liking orange juice recently. I always used to hate it, but I've been drinking it more now--especially since I know how good it is for me.
I haven't been doing any marathons :P lol And I don't plan on doing one any time soon :D

After taking into account your symptoms, I recommend three things - rest, honey and water(I won't say see a doctor!). Taking rest will help your body fight the illness. Honey is good for your throat and will reduce your cough and ginger is a great cure for any ailments related to allergy, which is what I guess what you have now. Last but not the least, do not give yourself too much stress. Like they say, "Be good, and if you can't be good, be careful!" Get well soon!

I think I'm resting pretty well...and I'm not under any stress! Once I quit my job I become a lot less stressed. I'm excited and a little nervous about starting school in January, but I'm not sure that is causing me any stress.
Awww man! I wish I liked honey!! But maybe if I didn't let it touch a lot of my tongue I can take some! lol. Put it on a spoon and put it towards the back of my mouth! :P My cough is defiantly the worse part of this! And it makes it hard for my to fall asleep and stay asleep. Of course I usually wake up because my nose is so stuffed I can't breathe out of it! lol
Have you seen those "For A Better Looking Tomorrow" NiQuil commercials?? I always feel like that lady that sleeps with her mouth open! :P
