hi shavvy I love my free AVG 9 as it does just what I wanted
protect my computer from spyware and virus so yes its the
best antivirus I have ever had, and I had Nortons, mcafee and several others and still got viruses so I stick with AVG and
download the new one each year, still free too.

Shavvy i have to say, for me COMODO internet security is the best, it protects you while on the internet as well as being a whole system anti-virus, it can peform system scans (very thourough) and best of all it is free!

For me, the best antivirus software is Kazpersky and Eset NOD32. But they're not for free.
If you're asking for the best free antivirus, then it's Avast Home Edition.

if you want both internet security and anti virus ill recommend norton internet security suite to you. norton 360 is a great security software too. if you have lots of ram then you can go for panda titanium anti virus

I always recommend http://www.download.com because it has software reviews. I personally like AVG Free OR Avast! Free. As their names state they are free. I have used them along with my other security software and never had any problems. Feel free to start reading the reviews on Download.com
Cheers, Happy New Year 2010, and keep on myLotting!

Hi there,
I've always use trend. I think its advantage is its operational feasibility. And I've used KAV, but I think that antivirus is too memory cost.

HI! The best antivirus is McAfee, because it detects almost 94% of the known viruses!

I don't know what the best anti-virous out there is, but my friend recommended AVG. I have yet to download it myself as I'm still looking for the free edition . I'm broke and can't afford an anual subscription which almost all anti-virous programs require.

I am using kaspersky form last 3.5 years and I am very much satisfied with this AV. It uses very less RAM compared to other AV in the market & it has very good script.
It detects virus programs within fraction of second.
And I am still using this AV. I am using kaspersky internet security 2010.

I am using kaspersky from last 3 years and I am very much happy with this AV. It won't slow your system & it will be updated every 5 mins. withour your knowinger in the background while you are on the work in the internet. And has a very good scripting to stop any kind for new torjans or virus.
hope you got my point.

It's rather difficult to judge which one is the best in the field of anti-virus. Most of us won't use so many softwares and then choose the best. I use Kaspersky for a long time and personally think it's quite nice. Although the Kaspersky 2010 has been released to sale, i still use the edition of KAV 8(2008). I think it's quite reliable and steady.

I am using AVG antivirus version of 8.5.427, its works amazing. it has so many features. include the email scanner and link scanner.
You can try this, but its not free, you need to pay something! but very secured.

If you want some basic protection for free, you could try AVG Anti-Virus.
Well Norton is supposed to be good, but it makes your computer too laggy and slow.
You could try Mcaffe antivirus it's really nice.. and also some like Avast! antivirus too.
I think the best for all and not making your computer slow and like an old trash box, I recommend Mcaffe, but it's up to you really.

I use the Eset- Nod32, it is far better according to me. It is an anti-virus, and internet security features. It is more preventive than any other anti-virus software I had ever used.
I had been using norton for 2 years, then avg for 2 years. A few years, without any anti-virus in my system. Now, after I got nod32 only, I feel a less prone to viruses.
