The most wonderful time of the year? REALLY?

There's this Christmas song I've heard a lot lately and it goes 'it's the most wonderful time of the year.... it's the hap-happiest season of all'... but is it really?
I mean I think it's a lot of fun and I enjoy it. But not every single second of it. There are so many people stressed out around holidays. Why? Gee.... how can we get it all done? LOL! When I was little, I had NO idea!! It takes a lot of work and juggling and going in for the kill on a great sale at the right time.
Sometimes I wonder if we get so busy we forget just to enjoy? Also sadly many people get depressed around the holidays because they're alone - or lonely in the midst of friends.
Do you love Christmas, holiday time and celebrating? Or do you hate it?

I like Christmas, love holidays, but I hate celebratings.
I hate being with, some, 'white' people who thinks black guys are beggars, poor people, or some guys who lives in some trash dumping lot. Those 'white' people think that they're a lot more noble than us black guys.

I think this is the first time I have ever heard of someone pulling the race card as a reason for not liking the holidays. I myself don't celebrate christman so I find myself rather bored on the 25th, I have lots of reasons for not celebrating chief among them being that I'm not christian.
I am just baffled by this race thing however. How does being any race equate to not liking the holidays? If racism is a major hurdle that you face it can't be only during this time of year. And if you are not a poor beggar who lives in a trash dump then why would people think you are?

I dont like Christmas
it is a huge pain in the butt
you have to spend a bunch of money on your ungrateful children, spend hours in the kitchen cooking for your ungrateful family, decorate your house for no good reason because noone really cares
and then there is the nonstop Christmas music for a month that drives people to drinking

This year has been my favorite Christmas season ever. Yes, we weren't able to buy nearly as many toys for the children as we have in the past, but it was such a fun age for them at Christmas. They loved seeing the loot that Santa had bought for them and they also loved getting all of the presents that they got to open. I, personally also really enjoyed this Christmas because of the fact that I was done with my Christmas shopping very early so I didn't have to stress about getting the shopping done.

I love Christmas! It's my most favorite time of year; a long-awaited moment. Christamas for me is a time of joyous celebration. My cousins from different places come to gather at our grandaparents' house and we have a get-together, and seeing my relatives makes me happy.

I actually DO love this time of year and look forward to it in much the same way a kid does. I guess the secret is to NOT get one stressed out about the whole thing. It does tick me off when stores start putting up Christmas items up for sale along side Halloween ones..like whoa...one holiday at a time. But for the most part I just tune it all out. I've never been one to fall into the frenzied madness of having to buy gifts the same way other people do. I've even simplified what dinner I fix on Christmas...instead of knocking myself out all day/night in the kitchen fixing what I used to fix..a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, I've opted to fix my Boeuf Bourgnignon dinner...only takes about a half hour to prepare then just let it simmer for about two hours....how easy it that?
When you think of it though if we didn't have the hustle and bustle and crazed madness of this "wonderful time of the year" I think it would be rather dull, don't you think? In other words it gives us something to do during the bleak, cold winter time

Hi, mommyboo. I love Christmas but ever since I found out that there was no Santa Claus, I lost all eagerness for Christmas. I only see Christmas as being Christ's Birthday anyway. I have my family with me and that is basically all that I need. I am not feeling too well today. So, I will be sitting at home. I feel a little lonely, but I have my kids to keep me company. I am not one to celebrate Christmas, but I do enjoy Christmas with my family.

I hate the running around, my wife loves Christmas and next year I'm going to try and get into the holiday spirit. We move a lot so we always celebrate Christmas in a different part of the USA. This year has been fun and we got a live tree, its going down the day after though, that's one good thing.

Hey mommyboo! Merry Christmas to you and your family! I am
one of those people who just always seem to feel depressed
at holiday times no matter what I do. I have people around me,
but that still doesn't seem to make me feel that much better.
I didn't have a good Christmas this year at all. I didn't
get anything great from Santa, except the new Rhianna CD!
And that was my best gift, so you can see Santa (BF) didn't
put lots of effort into this year's gifts! I asked for that
CD for weeks! And he gets to listen to it with me! And then
there was the turkey disaster (read my discussion on that one)!
So, I sure hope you had a great Christmas! I'd better stop
because I'm sounding like the Grynch!
