With Christmas 2009 practically at an end now I was just wondering how all you mylotters celebrate this day? Who you spend it with and what you get up to?
It's tradition in England we all sit down for a huge Roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings, eat so much we can't physically move afterwards, maybe watch the Queens speech if your feeling patriotic then either visit the pub or stay in with family, relatives or loved ones and lounge around watching Christmas TV.
Just interested in knowing how other countries celebrate and what traditions they have?

I spent Christmas with my husband at home. We heard Christmas Eve Mass at 10PM. Then, we ate our Noche Buena by midnight. No exchanging gifts in the family unlike in the previous years due to financial constraints because my husband has no job at the moment. Our Christmas is peaceful. We were able to give some gifts to godchildren, friends and other children who came to the house. On Christmas day, we ate the remaining Noche Buena of ham, spaghetti, buco salad, sweet yam or 'ube' and grape juice. Without much fanfare, we are able to celebrate Jesus' birthday with the more valuable gifts of love and friendship with one another in our family and in our neighborhood. Even if we did not have much money to spare for many gifts, our Christmas remains a truly meaningful and happy occasion, even more so because our focus has been on Jesus' love for us and for all humankind.

Well Metalchick, I see this discussion is a little old, but I wanted to respond anyway. It seems Christmas has been on my mind quite a bit here lately even though it is almost June.
I am looking forward to Christmas this year. Last year I had plans, but had to cancel everything because my car battery went out. Here in the United States, there aren't pubs open or anything else on Christmas Day. You may be lucky to find a convenience store open, but that is about it.
I hope that this Christmas Day is a lot better. I am looking forward to it this year moreso than any for a long time. I think I will start shopping a little early since it is so heavy on my mind and because I am a little better off this year.
Have a great day!

I spent Christmas this year at home with my family. My Mother will turn 85 years old next month and she wanted to have Christmas at home instead of going to one of her sisters. So, it was my small family that consists of myself, my brother, my mother, my daughter and grand daughter. We had ham for Christmas dinner. It was a wonderful Christmas. Hope you have a happy new year.

Well, we do a big family party on Christmas Eve, since my older sisters family spends Christmas day with her in-laws. So Christmas Eve, they come over, my younger sister comes over with her daughter and we hang out, catch up, have food. Mom puts out a nice spread with a ham and a bunch of other stuff, buffet style. So we have some food drink, then we exchange gifts with the people we won't be seeing on Christmas Day.
Christmas Day, my younger sister and her daughter come over, we do the Christmas morning unwrap thing around the tree and spend the day playing with new toys and watching Christmas TV. This year was pretty much the same. We didn't do a big traditional holiday dinner this year, but it was still a great day.

Yeah. I have celebrated this day by eating cakes and doing as much job as I can. My mom is a specialist in making various cakes and I don't find any day much better than this to celebrate and taste new cakes.

We spent our Christmas day eating our left over foods from Christmas eve and singing songs from the karaoke. It was fun! We also have this tradition to open the gifts we receive from friends and family.

Well, i have spend my Christmas holiday together with my family.. It is actually our tradition to be together.
In Philippines, we do have out so called "Noche Buena" at around 12:00 midnight of December 24.. We prepare foods, drinks and more as this day is one of the most especial days of our lives. We only want to get the best out of it.

We went to my father in-law's house in Florida and we celebrated there. The house was full because we have an extended family. It went pretty well and everybody got along and the kids especially loved it. We didn't watch a lot of tv, we just ate and chatted together, it's been a whole year since we have not seen each other.

My wife was sick, and I had a backache all day, so my wife and I just sat around all day and watched TV. I cooked some pork chops stuff last night, but that was about it. We didn't really feel like visiting family or anything, so we just relaxed here at home. It was actually a pretty good day, and I think I enjoyed it more than I have enjoyed a Christmas Day in several years, even though we were both not feeling well. It was nice just to rest all day without having to worry about dealing with my in-laws, or without having to travel to other people's houses and stuff the way we usually do on Christmas. I wanted to go to my dad's house in Georgia for Christmas, but I have to go up there in a couple of weeks anyway, so I decided not to go for Christmas for financial reasons...

I spent Christmas crying. This year Christmas is boring and i feel alone at that moment. My mum and my little brother went to bed early so i eat alone and afterward i clear the table and went online. Actually i created a discussion similar to this expressing how i feel at that moment. I was so lonely and cried until dawn. I missed those moments when we are still together. I wish i could turn back time.

As I'm self-employed and some of the grandchildren are coming next week I did a little work. Dorcas and I had already exchanged gifts the day before. But since she had off, we played some games and called some relatives to say Merry Christmas. In regard to turkey, I had some leftover turkey that came from somewhere. But din din that evening was pea soup.
